We support young people and their children who are at risk and experiencing homelessness to secure and maintain housingaddress physical and mental health challenges establish successful relationships and support networks and access pathways to education and employment. Are you seeking a role with a valuesdriven for purpose organisation where you can support young people in our community Are you an experienced residential youth worker looking for a new role in leadership Use your skills and expertise to support vulnerable young people in your community.
This fulltime position of The Nest Senior Youth Worker supports our mission by assisting in the delivery of planned support and the effective operations of a 24/7 HousingFirst aligned transitional supported accommodation model for young people aged 1625.
Youll be a great candidate for this role if you have:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work Human Services Psychology Social Sciences or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
- Experience working within a temporarysupported housing framework based on Housing First principles.
- The ability to complete intake and assessments including riskassessments and respond with appropriate interventions.
- Experience providing culturally safe traumainformed assessments briefintervention casecoordination and planned support grounded in principles of recovery restorative justice and harmminimisation.
- Experience assisting young people with appropriate engagement supervision emotional support social and living skills development recreational opportunities conflict resolution and goal setting.
- The ability to positively contribute to a culture of creativity resilience and deescalation and respond effectively to emotional dysregulation and challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication skills including interpersonal skills and writing skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of others.
Given the work that we do there will be a few nonnegotiables. Youll need to be able to have or obtain prior to commencement:
- Working with Children Suitability Card Blue Card.
- National Police Check clearance.
- Evidence of vaccination immunity or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases Measles Mumps Rubella and Varicella Chicken Pox; Pertussis Whooping Cough; and COVID19.
