This position will report to the Plant Manager of the Carthage Recycling Plant in Moore County NC However the position will be based out of The Broughton Laundry at 1000 South Sterling Street Morganton NC 28655 and will work in Burke and surrounding counties.
This employee is responsible for maintaining supervision of minimum custody unskilled inmates in a manufacturing environment. This employee is responsible for safety security and training of minimum custody inmates in a manufacturing environment. Assigns job duties to inmates. Maintain inmate accountability. Review work in progress to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Maintain proper documentation of training and work procedures of inmates. Effectively communicate using verbal and written means with upper management. Maintain detailed reports to include safety and training newly assigned inmate orientation production records incident reporting and goods received/shipped reports. Responsible and accountable for inmate tool chemical and key control. Errors by this position can result in serious safety violations compromise security and economic loss. Complete inmate working time sheets on a daily basis. Evaluate inmate work performance. Must have the ability to make nonotice changes in the daily work plan. Coordinate with maintenance personnel on scheduled repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment. Complete administrative forms regarding ordering of materials inventory and safety. Must possess strong precise communication skills through verbal and written means. Must possess general knowledge of basic computer skills. Work must be free of defects. Work must be completed by scheduled due dates with no quality issues. This employee assists plant management in other work assignments as needed. This includes temporary work at other facilities and plants. Employee must enforce and abide by all DPS OSHR OSHA and Enterprise policies and procedures.
The primary focus of this position is to provide supervision to a crew of 10 inmates who will be working outdoors picking up litter along local roadways within the state. Litter crews will work in the visible eye of the public; therefore this supervisor must present himself/herself in a professional manner at all times. Position is always responsible for the custody accountability and supervision of all inmates under his/her supervision including their dress conduct and job performance. This position is also responsible for safe operation upkeep and condition of assigned vehicle with trailer assigned to him/her and all equipment assigned. This position will be assigned other duties on days when the litter crew is not reporting out to the field.

Demonstrated ability to communicate with unskilled laborers staff and members of the general public.
Demonstrated ability to complete comprehensive reports
Proven experience with safety programs including various forms of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Proven inventory experience.
Must possess a valid NC Drivers License
Management Preference
Prefers someone with CPR basic first aid experience.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience;

an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience
Necessary Special Requirements
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
Plant Specific Special Requirements
Agriculture NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License
Cannery Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire
Laundry Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification
Braille Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hir
