The Heavy Equipment Technician performs skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of Vehicles Heavy duty equipment and related construction equipment with gasoline and dieselpowered engines at the shop or on mobile road calls. This equipment includes military vehicles excavators dozers skid steers tractors and road graders. The purpose for this position is to minimize downtime by accurately diagnosing repairing and maintaining equipment in the field. This individual must have experience with hydraulics electrical ignition and drive train systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform required maintenance repairs and thorough inspection of all Vehicles and Equipment Systems.
Diagnose troubleshoot and perform high quality/efficient repairs with a fix it right the first time approach and perspective.
Perform Quality Control Inspections on Vendor repaired Vehicles to ensure repairs are completed.
Create Estimates and communicate directly and effectively with Service Manager and Parts Department
Use OEM scan tools and Fleet software.
Travel and assist various shops within department based on workload.
Adhere to all County policies procedures and safety standards.
Must help maintain excellent customer satisfaction.
Perform any additional task assigned by management.

Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
Experience:
4 years experience troubleshooting repairing maintaining and lubricating heavy duty vehicles and machinery.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Diesel engines
Mechanic experience
Air Brakes and Hydraulics
Welding
Diagnostics
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess strong organizational skills.
Must have the ability to work well with others in a diverse and highvolume environment.
Must move with a purpose in a highvolume environment.
Licensure:
Must Valid Texas drivers license.
Eligible for a Class B endorsement

Graduated from Military Technical or Trade School for Automotive Repair
Experience:
Experience in the Automotive Industry (Dealership or Shop Environment) or Military
Certification:
Automotive Service Excellence certification

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
May be exposed to dust dirt fumes etc.
May be asked to work outdoors in elements such as hot cold and rain.
May be asked to work at different shop locations based on fleet workload
Able to work in hot and cold conditions and in tight places
Able be able to lift and/or move 100 lbs.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
Must maintain a clean workspace.
