Job Description

Background

C40 is a network of nearly 100 mayors of the worlds leading cities who are working to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis and create a future where everyone everywhere can thrive. Mayors of C40 cities are committed to using asciencebased and peoplefocused approachto help the world limit global heating to 1.5C and build healthy equitable and resilient communities. Through a Global Green New Deal mayors are working alongside a broad coalition of representatives from labour business the youth climate movement and civil society to go further and faster than ever before.


C40s team of 400 staff is based in offices in London in New York Johannesburg Singapore Delhi Rio de Janeiro Copenhagen Beijing and Paris and individual staff based across 25 different locations.


The strategic direction of the organisation is determined by an elected Steering Committee of C40 mayors which is chaired by Mayor Sadiq Khan of London and Mayor Yvonne AkiSawyerr of Freetown. Threeterm Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg serves as President of the C40 Board of Directors responsible for operational oversight. A regionally diverse management team led by Executive Director Mark Watts leads the daytoday management of C40. C40s three core strategic funders are Bloomberg Philanthropies the Childrens Investment Fund Foundation and Realdania.


Our international staff work with the C40 network under the leadership of city governments to deliver this mission. Using a datadriven approach our team identifies and promotes the exchange of proven programmes and policies developed by cities; provides worldclass research technical expertise and access to key partners to deliver new programmes and policies with cities; and communicates cities individual achievements and collective leadership.

Department Description

The IT team is responsible for providing support to 480 staff members in over 30 countries. Support is primarily handled remotely with support teams based in New York and London. The infrastructure is cloudbased using thirdparty suppliers.


Position Description

The IT Projects Technician will support the IT Projects team with major and minor IT project work and systems administration as well as continuous improvements to our security infrastructure updating and monitoring our systems and helping design IT training sessions.


The IT Projects Technician will report to the Senior Helpdesk Technician and will work closely with the Head of IT to plan and implement strategic IT projects across the organisation.


Initially when starting in the role the IT Projects Technician will work exclusively with the Helpdesk team to learn how our systems work and how we support the organisation. The role will then transition to the Projects team and project work.


Responsibilities:

  • Support and implementing project work for the IT department
  • Support computer setup processes
  • Assist with administering our systems
  • Monitor and proactively managing computers and phones
  • Support and helping to implement security procedures
  • Support in updating and maintaining of IT policies and procedures
  • Support with data security and compliance as needed
  • Proactively improve our systems and processes as required
  • Provide coverage and support the Helpdesk when needed
  • Other duties and responsibilities as the team needs.


Person Specification:

  • Demonstrable experience in supporting Apple computers.
  • Experience with managing iPhones desired.
  • Experience with project management or being a member of a complex project team.
  • Experience with a cloudbased infrastructure.
  • Experience with maintaining macOS and iOS devices at the enterprise level.
  • Some experience with Windows is desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to have a flexible approach to problem solving.
  • Strong ability to proactively improve our systems and apps as well as be mindful of where we can improve and enhance the IT departments work.
  • International experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Okta Google Workspace Jamf Pro Slack Zoom and Microsoft Office and/or similar services desirable.
  • Previous experience in the nonprofit or governmental sector is desirable.


Other Requirements:

Applicants must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom. The applicant will be expected to work in our Old Street based office a minimum of twice a week. Moderate travel maybe required as part of the role.
