Additional Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel frequently between both the Fredericton and Saint John Campus.
  • Frequently requires long hours evening/weekend activities.

Salary Range: $92717 $126364 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Associate ViceProvost Student Affairs and Services (AVP) the Senior Director Health & Wellness provides leadership and strategic direction and improvement within all aspects of the HW portfolio prioritizing the provision of excellent services to students financial and budget development and administration clinic and service operations and administration partnership development and management with internal and external partners.

  • Provide strategic leadership to directors and leaders within the division ensuring the development and implementation of comprehensive risk management policies and practices for student Health and Wellness.
  • Oversee the operation of the Student Health Centres Counselling Services the Student Intervention program the Campus Sexual Support Program and Campus Ministry.
  • Provide leadership and support to a team of professionals who provide critical emergency and crisis response including physicians counsellors nurses dietitian and other highly trained professionals.
  • Articulate a vision for how the HW division holistically serves students supports retention and can contribute to the university goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Student Affairs & Services Leadership Team as well as oncampus partners and committees and other stakeholders to ensure that UNBs HW programs continue to lead the nation.
  • Lead UNBs participation in regional national and international programs including research projects.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director Residence to ensure the students in residence receive support in ways that support culture and community building.
  • Provide overall financial leadership for the entire HW division ensuring appropriate accountability and responsibility.
  • Strategically develop and execute a comprehensive communication plan to effectively convey the Health and Wellness portfolio priorities and activities to stakeholders.
  • Manage all aspects of the relationship between HW services and external partners including relations with Medicare and the Department of Health.
  • Manage workflows for staff ensuring adjustment during peak periods in all departmental units and ensure succession planning and crosstraining activities are designed to meet anticipated future needs.
  • Engage in mediation and problem resolution with interpersonal conflicts and issues.
  • Inspire a culture of teamwork and excellence in student and client service as well as a clear commitment to supporting the universitys mission and goals.
  • Initiate policy and procedure revisions and changes to meet evolving needs.
  • Mitigate risk by ensuring all contracts internal administration policies and procedures are thorough and reflect the Universitys best interests and by resolving highlevel issues and complaints from clients partners and team members.
  • Support Residence Life in the development of oncall and crisis policies for all situations involving students.
  • Support the student intervention coordinators for high level critical decision making.
  • Collaborate with community and campus partners to ensure student safety.
  • Oversee the followup to every health and wellness crisis including developing debriefing sessions and appropriate counselling for impacted community members.
  • Provide additional support and training to staff members involved in a crisis and develop a postvention plan for the university.
  • Lead the development and implementation of all pandemic or health related crisis policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Masters or professional health degree in a related field.
  • 10 years of related professional level leadership experience within wellness health care or related fields.
