    NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

    The PowerSchool Administrator is responsible for managing the districts student information system (PowerSchool) and Learning Management System (Canvas) to support the Districts mission and goals in an efficient costeffective and dependable manner. Specifically this job is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and availability of student data; coordinating reporting of information from the school and district level; providing support and training for district and school staff in the use of the student information and related systems.

    JOB FUNCTIONS:

    State Reporting:

    • Ensures that all schools are in compliance with state and federal guidelines regarding FTE Student Record Course Record and other state reports to maximize funding.

    • Generates and uploads data for purposes of meeting state and federal reporting

    • requirements.

    • Communicates with Wyoming Department of Education concerning state reporting needs Beta Team program issues and updates.

    • PowerSchool and Canvas Management and Administration:

    • Responsible for administration and maintaining district PowerSchool servers (test and production) and application. This includes maintaining user accounts and security groups and synchronizing staffing additions/deletions/changes within the system.

    • Responsible for ensuring district and public access to student information data through the student information system (i.e. PowerTeacher PowerSchool Parent Portal) and Learning Management System Canvas.

    • Acts as liaison with Pearson and Instructure (PowerSchool and Canvas vendors) in implementing new features resolving operational problems and technical issues.

    • Manages the maintenance archiving and security of student information.

    • Performs all end of year procedures to start the new school year.

    • Ensures accurate rostering within and between Canvas Powerschool and other district digital platforms.

    • Responsible for Quality Assurance of data entered by school registrars counselors and administrators. This includes enrollment attendance schedule and transcript data validation.

    Support other Data Programs:

    • Maintains and manages the coordination between external database applications for the purpose of allowing the sharing of student data between major software systems.

    • Integration with other related systems as needed (nursing transportation assessments library food service web etc.

    • Manage InfoSnap Online Registration system as well as train in schools

    • SIF (School Interoperability Framework) interfaces. This includes PowerSchool SIF Agent Student Locator Kimono ZIS Wyoming Transcript Center and various other agents.

    • PowerSchool/Canvas Support and Training (Train the Trainer)

    • Responsible for primary customer support of District PowerSchool and Canvas users. This includes Power Teacher (gradebook) and Canvas Course users registrars counselors teacher leaders administrators and parents.

    • Responsible for training staff on the daily use of PowerSchool and Canvas for all applicable district departments and parents.

    • Responsible for scheduling and setting up advanced training(s) for key power users.

    • Responsible for training users on the creation of reports.

    • Responsible for tracking updates and platform changes to support the ongoing training of all staff.

    • Documentation

    • Responsible for documentation pertaining to the internal Knowledge Base/Help site.

    • Responsible for developing compiling updating documentation as pertaining to the duties of this position.

    • Human Interaction

    • To assist in the training of end users relating to infrastructure student information or database systems.

    • Responsible for interfacing with staff throughout the district and sharing instructional supports to promote ongoing growth by TCSD employees.

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:

    • Working with the Technology Director to identify and evaluate new technology for better education and network management.

    • Coordinate support and training for substitutes and new teachers as it applies to their assigned positions.

    • Track needed Canvas and PowerSchool training to ensure that all staff remain up to date on the current versions and possibilities of these two platforms.

    • Perform maintenance functions afterhours during emergencies and in time sensitive implementations.

    EDUCATION LICENSE CERTIFICATION OR FORMAL TRAINING

    • Bachelors Degree preferred in computer sciences systems engineering electronics or another degree and/or suitable experience in computer education management or other related field.

    • Possession of a valid drivers license.

    • Minimum of 1 year experience and knowledge of state reporting FTE funding FERPA school administrative procedures and record keeping.

    • A working knowledge and conceptual understanding of key software components such as word processing spreadsheets and databases. Knowledge of HTML and SQL. Must have strong interpersonal skills in supporting endusers (varying degrees of expertise) in training or problemsolving situations. Must be able to work independently establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

    • Environmental Requirements: encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.

    • Mental Requirements: read write understand interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; understand apply and interpret information; math skills at a high school proficiency level; the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy compile and coordinate information and records; decision making skills.
