- Bachelors Degree in a related discipline (preferred specialization/coursework in data analysis research program evaluation criminology sociology GIS analysis business process analysis performance measurement and/or public policy development)
- 2 years of related experience analysing data and making evidencebased recommendations
Assets:
- Experience in a municipal and/or enforcement setting
- Membership/accreditation with the Canadian Evaluation Society or similar
- Membership/accreditation with the International Association of Crime Analysts or similar
- Membership/accreditation with Statistical Society of Canada or similar
Skills required for success:
- Knowledge of current data practices including data ethics
- Ability to conduct research and summarize information into concise accurate reports
- Knowledge/experience with data warehousing analytics GIS mapping and data visualization
- Ability to pull information from various data sources and to create dashboards and reports
- Knowledge of a variety of software systems and databases such as Tableau/Power BI FME ArcGIS SAP SPSS Google Data Studio R iNovah POSSE and/or Shelter Buddy
- Knowledge of geodatabase design spatial data creation & editing mapping and spatial/statistical analysis

The City of Edmontons Community Standards Branch is seeking a dynamic and detailoriented Data/Operations Analyst to join our team. In this role you will work with a team of data professionals to enable efficient and effective operations by analysing managing and reporting from multiple data sources. The role may also entail research evaluation GIS mapping and other related functions that inform evidencebased decisionmaking. As a Data/Operations Analyst you will play a key role in supporting the Community Standards Branch. You will be responsible for acting as a subject matter expert on branch data providing expertise and advice on data methodology/collection and creating regular and ad hoc reports to support the Branch Leadership Team. Your work will also involve data and systems management research and evaluation and project support. This position requires a strong analytical mindset excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders.
What will you do
- Provide direct analytical support to the Community Standards Branch
- Develop collect analyze evaluate and disseminate data performance measurements and key performance indicators
- Develop performance reports with critical analysis of activities to support resource deployment and service improvements
- Develop effective data collection and report mechanisms including trend analysis chronic offender identification heat mapping causation analysis dashboards etc.
- Review and evaluate processes and procedures; provide recommendations; facilitate operational planning sessions
- Collaborate to identify and develop process and procedure improvements conduct gap analysis and provide recommendations
- Develop community project evaluation tools and strategies
- Conduct research and environmental scans to identify opportunities and trends
- Conduct and analyze surveys
- Assist in the preparation of reports presentations and other written materials
- Other duties as assigned
