Candidates for this position must be based in Toronto Canada and will be expected to comply with their teams hybrid work schedule requirements (T/WTH in office)
Who We Are:
Wayfair runs the largest custom ecommerce large parcel network in the United States approximately 1.6 million square meters of logistics space. The nature of the network is inherently a highly variable ecosystem that requires flexible reliable and resilient systems to operate efficiently.
We are looking for a passionate Platform Engineer to join the Service Lifecycle team at Wayfair. This team is responsible for everything that is necessary to successfully run a service or application in production at Wayfair. On the service lifecycle team we are responsible for the compute infrastructure on which all of Wayfair runs service to service communication using our service mesh and Wayfairs network edge which includes our CDN. As part of our team you will be solving complex problems that have a direct impact on production infrastructure that powers all of Wayfairs business.

What Youll Do:
- Work on a team of extremely talented platform engineers to help maintain and scale the current and future state services platform at Wayfair
- Help architect and develop the future state compute platform by leveraging industry best practices as well as embracing new technologies to support the future growth of Wayfair as a business
- Help influence the product roadmaps of GCP (our primary cloud provider) to better suit Wayfairs future state architecture
- Drive our network evolution as a GCPfocused Cloud Network Engineer architecting and operating robust Google Cloud networking solutions.
- Master GCP Interconnects Cloud Router configurations (BGP BFD route policies) GCP Firewalls and VPC design.
- Support our hybrid environment 20 scope) via Equinix Fabric and Azure (ExpressRoute/vWAN NSGs) is also key leveraging strong skills in NAT IPSEC VPNs 802.1q and network troubleshooting.
- Work collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders to develop and architect enhancements to the compute platform capabilities that enable them to develop and iterate applications to power the Wayfair business
- Identify opportunities to introduce automation improvements to avoid repetitive operational tasks (DRY)
- Participate in the oncall rotation to ensure operational excellence and overall platform health
We Are a Match Because You Have:
- 7 years of experience in platform engineering/SRE roles using an object oriented language (Python Golang etc)
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with IaC (Terraform Pulumi etc)
- Expertise working within a Public Cloud environment (GCP AWS Azure etc) and related networking concepts
- Extensive experience working with Kubernetes in a public cloud (GKE EKS AKS etc)
- Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Argo Buildkite TravisCI Jenkins Spinnaker etc
- Experience working with platform observability tools (Prometheus Thanos Grafana Fluentbit Cloud Monitoring Google Cloud Logging Datadog Pagerduty Cloudwatch Kibana Elastic Search Splunk VictorOps etc)
- Experience with Networking
- Experience and desire to work in an agile environment
- Analytical mindset and passion for solving business problems with technology
Nice To Haves:
- Experience working with Istio/Service Mesh
- Experience working with Dev Testing tools and patterns such as Garden Flagger Canary Deployments Blue/Green Testing A/B Testing
- Experience setting up and working with Kubernetes Admission Control (Kyverno OPA etc)
- Experience working with workload scaling (HPA VPA Capacity Planning/Reservations etc)
