THE AGENCY
The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is the states lead conservation agency and it takes a diverse agency to work for a diverse commonwealth. DCR works with Virginians to conserve and enhance their lands and improve the quality of the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia rivers and streams DCR protects what people care about access to the outdoors natural habitats open spaces clean water and safe outdoor recreation infrastructure.
THE DIVISION
The mission of the DCR Office of Resilience Planning is to distribute knowledge and coordinate action to achieve a floodresilient future for Virginia through informed planning and proactive intergovernmental solutions.. Our vision is a Virginia where stateled solutions effectively confront present and future flood risks. Through aligned collective action across Virginias community of flood resilience partners we work to increase resilience and minimize the impacts of flooding statewide.
We accomplish our work through four major lines of effort. We develop and implement stateled flood resilience plans: the Virginia Flood Protection Master Plan and the Coastal Resilience Master Plan. We work together with others to coordinate action. This includes staffing the Flood Resilience Advisory Committee a public body that advises DCR on flood resilience and hosting an Annual Flood Preparedness Coordination meeting. We share data information and resources to support informed decision making about present and future flood risks including through our Flood Resilience Open Data Portal. Finally we connect with stakeholders and the public to inform our plans and build general awareness about changing flood risks in Virginia.
The Office of Resilience Planning is responsible for intergovernmental and interagency coordination and is supported by multiple consultant teams to execute our work.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the supervision of the Office of Resilience Planning Program Manager the Resilience Planner will work along the Senior Resilience Planner to support the development administration and implementation of DCRs flood resilience planning efforts.

This position is restricted to the availability of funding in the Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund.
A valid State Drivers License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
