Job Description

Novo Building Products is an industryleading manufacturer and distributor of stair parts mouldings doors and specialty millwork along with a variety of board products. Based in Zeeland Michigan Novo Building Products operates Ornamental Decorative Millwork L.J. Smith Stair Systems and Novo Direct.

We are looking for an Operations Manager who will be responsible for managing the warehouse facility including staffing budgetary compliance facilities management and all aspects of warehouse operations such as Safety Receiving Shipping Loading Banding Stocking Inventory Control Traffic and production efficiency of the entity. The Operations Manager will manage the warehouse operations leading the team to ensure safe and efficient operations. Annual salary for this position is $115000.

What will you do in this role

  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Department Managers to manage facility staffing including recruitment interviewing hiring training and development of employees.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies procedures and programs as well as their consistent application among operations employees.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employmentrelated issues such as performance occurrences and effective documentation of employee infractions/coaching/safety incidents.
  • Lead train care for employees and create a cooperative teamoriented environment where employees are valued and motivated.
  • Identify and develop internal talent to create culture of growth for retention and succession planning.
  • Manage warehouse personnel performance and ensure timely and accurate performance reviews recommending the appropriate pay adjustments (i.e. fast track merit increases promotional opportunities etc.
  • Implement and enforce safety programs and maintain a safe work environment meeting OSHA and other regulatory requirements seeking opportunities to eliminate risks/hazards.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient flow of product through the warehouse.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring timeliness of delivery as well as order accuracy.
  • Monitor to ensure product quality through each step of the process including receipt of product at the warehouse movement through the warehouse product storage order pulling banding of order loading and delivery to customer.
  • Work cooperatively with sales team both National Home Center and ProDealer Divisions to resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Continually seek opportunities to add efficiency or control costs throughout the warehousing process.
  • Maintain scanners radios trucks forklifts tuggers and all equipment to ensure efficiency of operations scheduling maintenance accordingly.
  • Supervise inventory within industry shrinkage standards conduct cycle counts manage physical inventory annually and always maintain the integrity of the inventory.
  • Oversees Traffic Department and drivers to maintain professional deliveries of product to customers encompassing safety integrity of records compliance with all DOT requirements and efficient use of routing system.
  • Evaluate and prioritize the order pulling processes for ideal productivity results.
  • Manage all aspects of customer pickups including confirmation of orders implementing changes as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and optimal organization of products and stock locations to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Determine warehouse supply needs and establish good vendor relations for adequate supplies and competitive costs.
  • Create and maintain reports necessary to monitor productivity efficiency inventory labor customer returns and other data as may be requested from time to time.
  • Provide input for longrange planning and recommend improvements in the operation of the facility and achievement of corporate goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of facility management including waste and recycling programs facility equipment and maintenance.
  • Oversee the purchase of all noninventory needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for in an Operations Manager

  • Seven or more years of warehouse management experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and teambuilding skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including extended hours when required.
  • Resourcefulness in allocation of time personnel and inventory.
  • High level of skill in math with understanding of business metrics and data analysis.
  • Must be resourceful decisive with good attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical problemsolving organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Word Excel Access and Outlook.
  • Capability to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees management customers and vendors both verbally and in written form.
  • Capacity to multitask with speed and accuracy with prioritizing tasks and ability to maintain excellent organizational skills to work effectively and efficiently on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Established ability to manage others with strong conflict resolution skills and willingness to work collaboratively as a team to lead inspire motivate coach and successfully supervice team.

Above and Beyond Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelors degree in business management supply chain management or a comparable field.
  • Prior experience in traffic management and DOT regulatory requirements.
  • Prior experience in wood products and/or home building supply operations.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk up to 50 of day The employee must have use of hand to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and lifting. Must be able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust.
