The Department
The Unit services a large workload of elective & emergency Cardiac & Thoracic surgery and is the cornerstone of the Heart & Lung Transplantation Service at the Alfred. The service offers a range of procedures including: Coronary artery bypass surgery Valve replacements/repairs(traditional versus minimally invasive) Aortic aneurysm repair Dissection repair Pleurodesis (VATS) Decortication (VATS/ thoracotomy) Wedge resections/ lobectomy/ Pulmonectomy Lung Volume reduction surgery Rib fixation VAD insertion Heart transplant Lung transplant Pericardial window and Pulmonary Endartarectomy for CTEPH.
The Role
This successful applicant will be required to manage multiple databases and participate in data collection for patients undergoing Cardiac & Thoracic surgery. They will ensure data collected for the ANZSCTS Registry complies with the dataset inclusion criteria and relevant privacy requirements. In supporting all staff of the unit this person will be required to have excellent interpersonal problem solving communication and organisational skills. A proven ability to meet time lines and work with limited direction and supervision is essential. In addition participation in ongoing staff development activities to maintain currency of practice and the ability to meet the ongoing needs of the position.
Qualifications/Experience Required
Essential
Competence in relevant computer programs including Microsoft Office (Excel Access Word and Outlook)
Excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills
Commitment to customer service
Demonstrated initiative and selfdirection
Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion in dealing with all aspects of the role.
Desirable
Willingness to maintain advanced knowledge relevant to the position
Experience in chart review and clinical audit.
