Job description:
The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the financial activities of the organization including financial reporting budgeting forecasting and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role involves overseeing accounting operations managing financial risks and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the monthend and yearend closing processes.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop monitor and update annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures providing insights and recommendations.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws corporate policies and financial regulations.
- Coordinate audits and implement audit recommendations.
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable accounts receivable and general ledger functions.
- Manage and mentor the accounting team ensuring professional development and adherence to best practices.
Financial Analysis and Strategy:
- Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support business decisions.
- Assess financial risks and opportunities advising on potential impact and mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate financial performance and insights to senior management.
- Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with overall business objectives.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (Master s degree or ICAN ACCA or CPA preferred).
- 8 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Proven experience in a senior financial management role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
