Academic Year Recruitment Timeline:

Universal Studio Group: (USG) encompasses NBCUniversals television production studios: Universal Television (UTV) Universal Content Productions (UCP) NBCUniversal International Studio and Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS). Areas of placement may include but are not limited to:
Film Music Publishing:This intern will support the department that is responsible for monetizing and managing the studios film assets as it relates to film music film score theme songs etc. by way of licensing to third parties.
Film Music Creative:This intern will download new music and maintain organization of library as well as assist with music searches and artist brainstorms for films.
Universal Studio Group Television Music Creative Services: The role of the TV Music Creative Services intern is to support the staff while obtaining a wellrounded view of how the music and television industries function together. This experience will allow the intern to understand the activities of a music services department and what it takes to get music placed in television. The intern will engage in music clearance listen to new music received search our internal music library and evaluate tracks for potential use.
Music Business & Legal Affairs (undergrad): The Music Business & Legal Affairs team supports various clients across NBCUniversal including Sports Late Night Specials Telemundo News/ Owned Stations and Scripted/Alt Studios. They are experts in music licensing and administration and help our clients navigate music use within television (everything from research to payments). The role of the Music Business & Legal Affairs intern is to support the overall team they will gain valuable training and a balanced experience by participating in daytoday operations. Responsibilities include researching copyright information creating and updating music cue sheets databases tracking grids and more.
Legal Music Business & Legal Affairs (JDlevel): NBCUniversal Music Business & Legal Affairs services an array of clients in the Film & Television portfolios. Filmed Entertainment encompasses the Universal Pictures Group Focus Features Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Brand Development. The overall landscape of Film includes distinct business functions that each touch a key segment area in the overall lifecycle of a film from ideation to premiere. On the TV side there is a vast portfolio of sports news networks streaming entertainment networks and significant television production operations including scripted alternative and late night and a leading television stations Legal MBLA team is seeking a JDlevel intern whose responsibilities may include the following: researching music rights analyzing and summarizing music deal terms drafting music talent agreements reviewing production content for music information and assisting with tracking rights analysis grid maintenance.
Qualifications :
Basic Requirements:
Must be actively enrolled in a degreegranting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026. December 2025 graduates are not eligible for ourAcademic Year Internship Program.
Current class standing of sophomore or above 30 credits).
Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
Must be available to work 1624 hours per week from September 15 2025 April 17 2026.
Must be willing to work in Universal City CA.
For further clarification candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F1 CPT F1 OPT J1 M1 are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

Desired Characteristics:
Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Strong interest in music and/or transactional work.
Strong interest in the media industry.
Ability to understand music related concepts and contractual language.
Demonstrate the ability to multitask prioritize work and deal with different clients simultaneously.
Selfstarter professional and ability to adapt.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook).
For Music Business & Legal Affairs: Knowledge of musicrelated concepts such as PROs Cue Sheets and Clearance terminology preferred.
For Legal Music Business & Legal Affairs: Must be a current J.D. candidate in good standing; Ability to understand music related concepts and contractual language preferred.
The hourly rate for undergraduate and graduate student interns is $17.50.
The hourly rate for JD student interns is $25.00.
