To assist Employment Guidance Counselors in providing services to program participants; to reinforce the job seeking and work skills that Employment Guidance Counselors teach participants; to maintain program participants records; to monitor participants progress during and after the program; and to perform related duties as assigned. (This is the first level of a two level career development class series. Work assignments enable incumbents to obtain experience required for advancement to Employment Guidance Counselor Aide 2.

Experience: Four years paid or volunteer experience in a customer service or clerical position that included contact with clients/customers.
Substitutions: Postsecondary education in Vocational Education Counseling Human Services Social Services or another closely related field may substitute for two of the four years of the required experience.

Definition of Unclassified from the Ramsey County Personnel Act:
Subdivision 1. General. The appointing authority may discharge employees in the unclassified service with or without cause. Employees in the unclassified service have no right to a grievance appeal from discharge or other disciplinary action under sections 383A.281 to 383A.301. An employee in an unclassified position shall not have tenure but shall be entitled to all benefits associated with tenure such as vacation leave sick leave health insurance and other benefits as determined by the county board.
