Job Description
Our Opportunity
South Puget Sound Community College(SPSCC) seeks a creative dynamic and collaborative individual for the position ofInstructional Designer/Canvas Administrator in the Academic Success Programs divisions eLearning department.The Instructional Designer/Canvas Administrator collaborates with faculty members to design highquality curriculum for all delivery formats administers the college learning management system researches and recommends appropriate learning technologies offers training sessions for students and faculty and provides support for students and faculty. The Instructional Designer/Canvas Administrator reports to the Dean of Academic Success Programs and will work with staff faculty and students on a daily basis.

What Youll Do
The responsibilities and duties of the Instructional Designer/Canvas Administrator include but are not limited to the following:
- Designing educational materials for multiple modalities and programs
- Developing and delivering training for faculty staff and students
- Researching recommending and implementing appropriate instruction technology including Learning Technology Interoperability options in the LMS
- Assisting in the assessment processes necessary for national and state standards student success and accreditation
- Collaborating with faculty and staff to create instructionally appropriate rich media
- Supporting Campus Open Education initiatives
- Administering all aspects of the learning management system (Canvas) including creating courses troubleshooting problems providing reports and analytics and providing training materials.
- Administering all aspects of the online course evaluation system (Evaluation Kit).
- Providing dropin assistance and production support for faculty wanting to incorporate educational technologies in their teaching.
- Collaborating with IT and the State Board technology groups
- Working effectively with other campus groups to further the colleges goals of innovation equity and retention.
Qualifications You Possess
Minimum Qualifications:
- Competence and sensitivity in working at a college in which students faculty and staff are highly diverse regarding many facets of identity including but not limited to gender ethnicity nationality sexual orientation income level of educational attainment and religion.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of three years of experience with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System (LMS).
- Demonstrated experience:
- Producing assessable and effective instructional materials
- Using instructional technology to create reusable learning objects
- Implementing adult learning theories and instructional design models in curriculum and assessment
- Applying inclusive pedagogy practices especially Universal Design for Learning standards to plan curriculum design assignments and create assessments.
- Experience and/or leadership in serving advocating for collaborating with and/or representing specific underrepresented marginalized communities.
- Knowledge of inclusive pedagogy principles including curriculum assignment design assessment and classroom culture UDL.
