New Teachers are offered a onetime salary advance opportunity to increase their August paycheck. We want to assist in all ways possible through the transition into the teaching profession.

Paid Leave: 4 Personal Days; 9 Sick Days; 5 Bereavement Days; Civic Leave; and Professional Leave as determined by administrators. Certified staff also administer a Sick Leave Bank that all certified staff are eligible to join on an annual basis. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employees position includes 1 regular dependable inperson attendance on the job; 2 the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge skills and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and 3 the ability to perform the physical requirements of their specific job description.

Basic: To develop a library/media program which ensures that students and staff are given the opportunity to become effective users of ideas and information. To provide intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats. To provide instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading viewing and using information and ideas. Work with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.

Frequent:

  1. Evaluate select and requisition materials and technology to support the curriculum. Inform students teachers and other staff members concerning newly acquired library media materials information sources and technology.
  2. Provide assistance to teachers students and administrators in the selection use and production of instructional materials.
  3. Encourage integration of technology and information skills across the curriculum by planning with teachers to have skills as a part of a content unit in the curriculum.
  4. Encourage students to become independent in use of information and teach these skills cooperatively with teachers as the need arises.
  5. Promote and coordinate the effective use of instructional and information technology.
  6. Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging and processing all new library media materials.
  7. Arrange interlibrary loan of materials for use by students teachers and administrators.
  8. Supervise and train library media paraprofessionals in the performance of their duties. Plan and conduct inservices for the library media paraprofessionals.
  9. Assist the administration in budget planning.
  10. Evaluate the equipment needs.
  11. Consult with other media specialists to develop and coordinate all facets of the media program.
  12. Participate in curriculum and department meetings as well as District committees.
  13. Supervise the maintenance of an inventory repair record and identification system of audio/visual equipment at each school.
  14. Responsible for weeding the collection and disposing of outdated materials and equipment.
  15. Keep administration informed of needs and services related to the Media Program.
  16. Communicate with other members of the profession.
  17. Establish liaison with outside agencies such as E.S.U. and the public library. Attend workshops and conferences related to educational media and technology.
