Duty Schedule:
Flexible: 8:00 AM 9:00 Monday to Friday
Program Duration: May 26 2025 July 31 2025 with a variable schedule depending on the summer program agenda.
Summary/Objective of Position:
2025 SREP (Summer Research Enhancement Program). Student Interns will participate in the tenweek program of scheduled activities classroom instructions and community internship. Student Interns will learn to apply public health principles in research and community work. Attendance is mandatory.
Description of Essential Functions of the Position

- All SREP Student Interns will participate in all scheduled activities not limited to:
- Participate actively in all of the classroom instructions and activities
- Work with faculty and staff in educational and training activities
- Attend presentations and lectures related to primary and secondary research in the public health field
- All SREP students will participate in field placements in an ongoing research or public health service agency
- All SREP students will produce and present a presentation and assessment on sthe ubject matter in the final week of the summer program
- Recordkeeping:
- Keep a record of work and classroom activities as appropriate
- Maintaining records for completing projects
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
- Possess a background of basic understanding of science and social science concepts and theories as they apply to health.
- Must have completed successfully at least one year of collegelevel academic coursework in a science or social science discipline.
Preferred:
- Must have completed with a grade C or better courses in public health mathematics English sciences and social science.
Knowledge:
- To be on your best behavior at all times while in the SREP Summer program
- To promote selfawareness academic development/achievement knowledge and skills and seek academic counseling as needed
- Have knowledge of computer operations and the software required
- Need to know the basics of human health and biology as well as how health services are organized
- Need to be knowledgeable about how to function effectively in education settings
Skills:
- Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desired but not mandatory
- Ability to demonstrate a considerable degree of fluency in speaking and writing the English language
- Ability to comprehend and implement technical theories and applications
- Must have computer literacy skills for keyboarding using computers to access online learning and connecting to internet sources
Abilities:
- To promote selfawareness academic development/achievement knowledge and skills and seek academic counseling as needed
- Ability to work with all SREP Students staff and faculty from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to follow instructions work independentlyy and demonstrate proficiency
- Ability to adhere to the established Colleges Student Code of Conduct
- Ability to adhere to SREP policies
Physical Requirements Work Environment & Travel:
- Most activities will require long periods of sitting at a computer or studying to complete projects or assignments
- Must be able to cope with being in a hot/dry climate and a remote rural area of the Navajo Nation
- Must be able to cope with the location of the program (SREP)
Other Requirement(s):
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must have access to the internet to be able to keep in communication with the SREP staff
- Must have all COVID19 vaccinations provide proof of vaccination card
