Job Description: The SDDOT is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team in the role of Internal Controls and Financial Systems Specialist. This unique position is responsible for overseeing and strengthening the departments internal control framework across finance operations inventory and other key functions. The role ensures adherence to financial regulations mitigates risk and promotes efficiency by developing control policies conducting thorough risk assessments and continuously enhancing business processes within the SDDOT.

Duties and Responsibilities: Document provide oversight and report regularly to the executive team on departmentwide internal control processes.
Develop implement and maintain an effective internal control framework across finance operations inventory and other key functions.
Provide information guidance and training to department staff on internal controls and financial systems.
Perform risk assessments and internal control testing to regularly work with each DOT division to ensure adherence to department policies and federal/state requirements.
Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws accounting standards and internal policies.
Identify and leverage opportunities to support the department in achieving its financial and operational objectives.
Design accounting and financial processes that enhance analytical capabilities and streamline operations.
Serve as a technical resource to the department by applying specialized knowledge and expertise of internal control policies and best practices.
Take initiative to gain exposure to special projects and problems to continuously refine and upgrade technical and business skills and knowledge.

experience with complex automated systems.

Position Requirements: Bachelors degree in Business Finance Accounting Risk Management or a related field; minimum of 2 years of experience in internal controls risk management auditing or related field preferred.
Compensation: The total compensation of Hourly Wage State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Internal Control Officer is approximately $99126.00 annually.
