PAY: $70000/yr exempt based on experience education and certifications.
BASIC FUNCTION: The Program Coordinator is part of the schools administrative team and provides assistance with the daytoday operations of Hammitt Schools. The Program Coordinator provides supervision to assigned staff and program coordination training and consultation to supervisors and teachers regarding behavioral and teaching strategies. The Program Coordinator demonstrates an ability to apply traumainformed principles and integrates them into daily practice. This includes communicating effectively and promoting collaborative problem solving by demonstrating care and respect in considering the diverse experiences and perspectives of others.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AUTISM PROGRAM COORDINATOR:
- Personnel Management: Responsible for assigned staff including employment training supervision support and performance feedback including timely completion performance evaluations. Maintains staff accountability for lesson plans data and analysis and report writing.
- Program Management:
- Reviews referrals and school record information with staff including observations of referred students.
- Assists with student preplacement visits to the Challenges program.
- Assists assigned casework staff in transition planning for students and coordinating with relevant internal and external service providers prior to discharge to another placement.
- Coordinates with psychologist and nursing staff for medical/psychiatric case management particularly for students requiring inpatient psychiatric care or prescription medications as part of their educational program.
- Coordinates with Speech and Language Therapist and classroom staff to insure integration of language development and communication strategies into daily classroom operation.
- Provides assistance for communitybased activities and integration into activities in other classrooms for Challenges students.
- Behavioral Treatment: Implements clinical behavioral treatment according to program guidelines including individualized behavioral programming and crisis intervention. Includes a primary focus on social and communication supports required for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in appropriate area of education specializing in teaching children with one or more of the following disabilities: behavior disorders emotional problems learning disabilities autism speech and language deficits and/or developmental delays. Masters Degree preferred.
- LBS1 Licensure as a special education teacher with the State of Illinois in one or more of the abovementioned disabilities required. Work experience with Autism and/or developmentally disabled populations required. Experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis preferred.
- Five years of teaching experience required. Three years supervisory experience strongly preferred.
