Join our team in the Aspire Program of Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Part Time Peer Support Specialist at Wasatch Behavioral Health you will have the opportunity to work closely with youth at our Orem Facility. Your role as a peer support specialist will involve providing guidance support and encouragement to help adolescents navigate through challenging situations and develop essential coping skills. This position offers a competitive pay range of $16.25$20.59 providing a stable foundation for your career growth and financial wellbeing. We are looking for someone to fill our 2:00 pm10:00 pm (varies) Tuesday Saturday variable shift position.

Your day to day as a Peer Support Specialist

As a Youth Peer Support Specialist at Wasatch Behavioral Health you will play a crucial role in providing safe effective and consumercentered care to young individuals in need. By establishing therapeutic relationships with clients you will help create a supportive and recoveryoriented environment. Through individual and group engagements you will inspire hope encourage personal responsibility and assist in the development of recovery goals and selfadvocacy skills. By sharing your own recovery story and modeling ongoing coping skills you will serve as a beacon of empowerment for those navigating through challenges.

Your keen observation documentation and reporting of client behavior and progress will contribute to the continuous improvement of our services. Join us in making a positive difference in the lives of the youth we serve!

What were looking for in a Peer Support Specialist

Preferred qualifications include the successful completion of a Peer Support Training through the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH).

Ideal candidates will be selfidentified individuals who are in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder parents of children with behavioral health disorders or individuals with personal relationships with those experiencing behavioral health challenges. These qualifications will enable you to effectively support and guide youth towards recovery and empowerment.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; AND One 1 year post high school education in social work
  • Psychology or a related field; AND One 1 year of general work experience; OR An equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Successfully completed a Peer Support Training through the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH); Selfidentified individual who is in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder; or parent of a child with a behavioral health disorder; or other adult who has or has had an ongoing and personal relationship with an individual with a behavioral health disorder.

Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
