Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Electrical Engineer to join the instrumentation development engineering team. The ideal candidate would have experience in industrial automation instrumentation controls and process automation. A strong background in imaging systems hardware and electronics are desired. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the full development life cycle of highprecision optical metrology instruments. This position entails leading the development and integration of hardware components for devices such as cameras motors optics lasers and control boards directly contributing to advancements in the instrumentation technology.
The location: Secaucus NJ
This role will require the person to work onsite due to the nature of the work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates as a member of equipment R&D division which develops advanced analytical instruments participates in shortterm and longterm projects.
- Develops instrumentation and methods for industrial and research level automated measurement systems using various primarily optical imaging and spectroscopic techniques.
- Assists product design by defining the platforms requirements providing electrical design circuit simulation engineering calculations and analytical results.
- Interprets schematics and process control diagrams.
- Develops electrical block diagram circuit layout and Gerber file and design PCB/PWB by applying industry and government standards for multiple products.
- Conducts full product design cycle and helps transition the design to small volume manufacturing provides suggestions to improve instrument performance.
- Designs tests installs troubleshoots and monitors power systems and electronic components of instrument and prototype.
- Identifies malfunctioning components/units and the need for repair of electrical systems and com
- Develops processes testing procedures to ensure manufactured products meet high quality standards.
- Implements systems to ensure products and processes comply with safety regulations and meet expectations.
- Performs routine quality checks and create preventive measures to mitigate defects and achieve the highest quality standards.
- Works closely with manufacturing vendors to ensure parts and components supplied according to product specifications.
- Keep detailed records of production and equipment inspections root cause analysis corrective action plans and other reporting requirements.
- Works jointly with R&D team to improve existing or develop new instruments. Serves as interface between R&D teams and production/laboratory teams.
- Remain current on equipment/tools through appropriate training manuals technical bulletins and other relevant materials.
- Keep updated on knowledge of new technologies quality control processes and methods of analytical instrumentation.
- Other duties may be assigned as the business need warrants.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge Skills & Abilities)
- Experience in working with sensors actuators feedback loops and control algorithms
- Rapid prototyping skills from bread board to PCB with hands on experience with tools including soldering equipment oscilloscopes waveform generators and multimeters.
- Knowledge of industrystandard software and standards such as Altium AutoCAD MATLAB SCADA HMI ANSI and IEC.
- Familiarity with various communication protocols such as Ethernet Modbus ProfiNet others.
- Programming skills in languages including Python SQL and C/C are desirable.
- Proficiency with hardware and database libraries as well as versioning of code data and system architecture.
- Experience with microcontrollers and or FPGA is highly desirable.
- Detail orientated to ensure products are being manufactured installed and operated to the required specifications and standards.
- Excellent analysis/Critical thinking/Problemsolving skills to optimize current processes conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective and/or preventative action plans when problems arise.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills to communicate current and new processes clearly document inspections root cause analyses and process improvements in a clear and understandable manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work professionally with different departments across organization and outside companies to provide support to collaborate and work with many different types of teams and individuals at varying levels of seniority.
- Strong ethics to work under pressure and still ensure that standards are met.
- Understanding of mechanical theory and ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings.
- Ability to create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Fast prototyping capability complemented with small batch manufacturing capability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree (B.A. from fouryear college or university in Electrical Engineering Electronics System engineering or related field. Masters degree (M.S. is preferred.
