We are currently seeking an IP Counsel for CAS (Connected Aviation Solutions) and to support the broader Avionics and Mission Systems businesses.
This position requires a leading IP expert that is forward thinking drives to create new and innovative solutions makes sound decisions sets and implements short and longterm strategies communicates effectively with top leadership and excels in solving exceptionally highly complex this skill set the career possibilities are numerous within Collins and the other Raytheon Technologies companies. Primary responsibility involves a broad mix of protecting the Collins IP transactional work and client counseling including:
This individual will ideally work a hybrid role at our Collins location in Windsor Locks CT or Cedar Rapids IA or Charlotte NC but remote may be a possibility.
What You Will Do:
Driving IP engagement within the CAS AVI and Mission System businesses
Providing effective concise and timely advice to senior management general legal counsel engineers and commercial colleagues on IP matters particularly in the areas of patent trade secret trademark and copyright law and related disputes.
Negotiating and advising management and colleagues on various IP agreements and IP aspects of broader agreements with customers suppliers and partners.
Collaborate with clients to develop and implement IP strategies for key enterprises products and technologies aligned with business objectives. Active engagement on IP issues throughout product development processes.
Interacting with engineers and supervising outside counsel with regards to identifying protectable inventions assessing invention disclosures preparing and prosecuting patent applications and protecting trade secrets.
Preferred locations Connecticut Charlotte or Cedar Rapids
Must be willing and able to travel 10 of the time (domestic and international)
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Must have a Juris doctor degree
5 years of IP legal experience
Admitted to the Bar of one or more US States
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace (e.g. as an engineer inhouse attorney or patent prosecutor)
Law firm and inhouse IP legal experience
Patents: preparation & prosecution; transactions and litigation
US government contracts intellectual property
Engineering experience is beneficial

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 147000 USD 295000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
