Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority:
Directly responsible to the Summer Coordinator and/or the Executive Director of Student Support Services and/or his/her designee
Statement of Duties:
- Prepare curriculum lessons schedules and activities in accordance with goals and objectives of children assigned to the class.
- Oversee the IEP for provision of additional services i.e. Speech Therapy O.T. P.T. etc.
- Work with therapists to facilitate integrated therapies small group or individual therapies.
- Plan with therapists to carry over therapy interventions in the class.
- Work as a member of a coordinated program team including other teachers educational support staff personnel therapists etc.
- Encourage parent involvement maintain parent contact.
- Direct classroom educational support personnel activities and interactions with students.
- Maintain all necessary records as per school system requirements.
- Provide a safe healthy environment inside and outside for all children.
- Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the teacher principal supervisors/directors directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higherrequired.
- Masters Degree in Special Educationpreferred.
- Licensed as a Teacher of Children with Special Needs or Moderate or Severe Disabilities by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Educationpreferred.
- Successful experience working with students with disabilities and/or learning disabilities.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
