GENERAL PURPOSE
The job of EducatorSecondary was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program by serving as a secondary school teacher with specific responsibility for developing student success in academics (e.g.Language arts mathematics science history etc. or skills (e.g. Art music physical education etc.; developing lesson plans and delivering group and/or individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; collaborating with other teachers other professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined lesson plan.
- Manages/supervises student behavior in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom common areas etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Adapts classroom work and instructional delivery for the purpose of providing students with instruction that meets their learning style.
- Administers testing programs and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels.
- Communicates with parents and/or legal guardians regarding student progress for the purpose of engaging stakeholders in the students education.
- Collaborates with staff and community partners for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established classroom objectives in support of the schools improvement plan.
- Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance health status problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues for the purpose of expanding the students capability of addressing life skills.
- Directs assigned student teachers paraprofessionals student workers and/or volunteers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
- Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform the jobs functions.
- Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades attendance anecdotal records etc. for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting regulatory and other requirements.
- Reports incidents (e.g. student behavior suspected child abuse etc. for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students providing a positive learning environment and adhering to applicable laws and/or regulations.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of resolving issues and/or providing direction.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in jobrelated area required
- Job related experience required
- Coaching experience preferred
- Fine Arts experience and interest preferred
Certificates Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Appropriate gradelevel and subject matter Missouri Teaching Certificate required
- Ability to gain and maintain Highly Qualified status as defined by Missouris Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20 sitting 5 walking and 75 standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
- Work environment is primarily inside where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
- The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
- Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers perceive the nature of sounds make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes express or exchange ideas by the spoken word substantial movements (motions) with the hands wrists and/or fingers and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
- Additionally the following physical abilities are required: balancing grasping hearing manual dexterity mental acuity reaching repetitive motion speaking visual acuity and walking.
