Job Description

The Program Coordinator forSimulation in Motion Iowa(SIMIA) plays a key role in managing the daily operations and logistics of the mobile simulation program in collaboration with others. Responsibilities include coordinating simulation activities managing equipment and ensuring the seamless of educational sessions across various locations in Iowa. Additionally this role requires a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or higher to operate the mobile simulation trucks

Simulation in MotionIowa (SIMIA)

This program is focused on providing clinical simulation education for EMS and other healthcare providers across the state. SIMIA has launched three mobile simulation labs that is staffed with registered nurses paramedics and EMTs to provide stateoftheart education with high volume high risk and/or low frequency emergencies to improve patient care clinical outcomes and provider experiences.

Operational and Data Management

  • Organize and oversee the planning scheduling and coordination of simulation activities and events
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and educators to schedule develop and implement simulation scenarios
  • Ensure all simulation activities align with program educational goals and standards
  • Maintain accurate records of simulation activities participant feedback and equipment usage.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on program outcomes effectiveness and opportunities for improvement
  • Leverage data and improve the quality and impact of the simulation program.
  • Stay abreast of best practices in educational strategies current technology and policies/procedures to continually enhance the stature and effectiveness of the simulation program.
  • Support special event trainings and noncore mission events.


Facilities/Technology Management

  • Ensure appropriate use and basic maintenance of simulation equipment

Communication and Outreach

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners healthcare organizations and educational institutions
  • Promote SIMIA program through outreach activities and presentations
  • Serve as an ambassador for SIMIA by participating in and representing the program at local state and national conferences and events

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited paramedic educational program or an accredited school of nursing or a combination of related education and experience.
  • Typically 1 years) in administrative supervisory and/or program coordination experience.
  • Typically 1 years) experience presenting and/or public speaking.
  • Documented clinical proficiency in emergency medical services or nursing.
  • Documented experience in healthcare simulation.
  • Ability to move push or pull 40 pounds occasionally and frequent 40pound move/push/pull in related tasks. Use of assistive equipment to move heavy materials.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills; demonstrated by the ability to effectively transmit receive and accurately interpret ideas information and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors to provide excellent customer service and maintain working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex scheduling and balance multiple competing requests for resources.
  • Valid Drivers License and the ability to meet and maintain University Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B CDL or higher to operate a mobile simulation truck.
  • Ensure compliance with all CDL regulations and requirements including medical certification and safety standards.
  • Ability to travel to regional meetings and conferences

Desired Qualifications

  • Typically one year of relevant experience in adult education.
  • Knowledge of the University of Iowa policies procedures and regulations.
