About the opportunity:
As the External Relations Advisor (ERA) you will play a key role in working with CLBC managers and staff and liaising with government to help CLBC identify and proactively address public and sensitive issues. You will be responsible for ensuring that public questions and concerns that arise in daytoday activities meetings correspondence and through media and social media are identified and understood so that effective strategies can be designed to build understanding for CLBCs vision mandate and programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan coordinate and implement issues management services
- Develop productive relationships with government communications and Ministry staff by keeping them informed of developments and being accessible and responsive to government questions and requests
- Maintain proactive positive supportive relationships with senior management and regional managers and staff that allow quick identification and response to emerging issues
- Coordinate government correspondence requests
- Coordinate the preparation of a wide variety of communications materials
- Develop communications plans to support CLBC provincial initiatives
- Participate in the development implementation and evaluation of strategic Communications goals and objectives for CLBC in conjunction with Communications team members. Identify potential issues involving the development production and distribution of communication material and develop strategies to address these issues. Ensure quality and consistency of all material and alignment with the vision mission and values of CLBC
- Edit communications for both internal and external use to ensure they are designed and clearly written to reach target audiences promote awareness of CLBC initiatives and help to build a positive reputation for CLBC
- Support proactive media relations activities by helping draft news releases and stories to highlight CLBC achievements and enhance reputation with stakeholders
- Participate as a member of various committees throughout CLBC to provide and collect information regarding communication issues
You will stand out if you have:
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with individuals in a wide variety of settings across the organization
- Solid understanding of the linkages between the public and the elected and administrative spheres of all orders of government
- Demonstrated experience using industrystandard communicationsrelated software such as Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent writing and editing skills and demonstrated ability to produce highquality documents
- Ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature
What you will bring:
- Bachelors Degree in Communications Public Relations Political Science or an equivalent and relevant discipline
- Minimum of five 5 to seven 7 years of related experience including experience maintaining positive relationships with journalists
- An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
