Primary Purpose
The SHS Director of Academic and Student Affairs oversees the academic and student affairs in the School of Health Sciences. Reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences with dotted lines to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs the Director ensures leadership strategic planning and continuous improvement processes that support the successful growth and optimized processes for the academic delivery of all programs in SHS and provides ensures student success. The Director of Academic & Student Affairs makes decisions with a large impact and critical nature and is an effective liaison with internal and external constituents. The office of the SHS Dean and its cabinet is a dynamic and fastpaced environment; the successful candidate is strategic discerning and able to balance competing priorities and projects to deliver ontime highquality complete projects and initiatives that actively shape the future of the School of Health Sciences.
Essential Functions
The individual works under the general supervision of the dean and performs the following services: Provides leadership for the implementation and of processes for the routine collection storage management retrieval and updating of academic affairs data from all pertinent sources in a timely manner including planning communications to faculty and students and maintaining records using appropriate software and/or proprietary assessment management products. Delivers reports to the Dean and Associate Deans and provides recommendations for action plans. Works closely with the SHS Dean in all areas related to academic and student affairs providing leadership in shaping the Schools policies procedures and practices for sustaining academic excellence standards and student success. Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in assessing continuous programmatic quality improvement by facilitating the collection of qualitative and quantitative data related to courses curricular planning scheduling and registration. Manages the Office of Academic Affairs budget related to student support including yield and retention (welcome swag boxes to accepted students goodie bags during exams etc. and the implementation of budget policy and procedures in compliance with legal and university regulations. Oversees the consolidation and management of course schedules and registration for the Schools academic programs and collaborates with the registrar and other offices to ensure classroom scheduling. Supports the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Assistant/Associate Dean of Student Affairs in maintaining accurate data on file and ensuring deadlines for processes within the SHS are met each year and are aligned with University deadlines. Collaborates closely with the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs to develop the strategic goals and annual plan for SHS student affairs develop innovative programming and activities create and continuously refine metrics and track performance results for key activities. Provides strategic direction creates strategic plans and oversees the planning and of incoming student orientations (university and school level to complement programspecific orientations). Oversees the collection of data and maintenance for select assessments (e.g. studentexperience campus life surveys) within the School and coordinates with alumni relations to complete postgraduation student success surveys. Advises and serve as ex officio point of contact for the SHS Student Association; works with other studentrun organizations and supports and attends student activities/functions; works with student leaders staff and faculty to plan organize promote supervise and evaluate Student Life programs events and activities to meet the needs of SHS students. Partners with multiple university departments including but not limited to Enrollment Management Student Accounts Financial Aid Student Life etc. to resolve student requests questions and issues. Supervises and manages the SHS Events Manager and Academic Affairs staff and student employees including hiring training performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures. Develops budget recommendations to SHS Dean regarding school swag large schoolwide events and community engagement sponsoring events and upon approval subsequently oversees and manages the annual budget including ordering and maintaining inventory. Supports contract and vendor agreements processes and tracking. Oversees the management and integration of academic and nonacademic events and activities calendars in the SHS and coordinates the use of facilities for nonacademic meetings and events. Develops maintains interprets and executes administrative procedures and practices. This activity includes developing and maintaining manuals regarding policies procedures rules and standards for SHS . Fosters effective communication between faculty staff and administrators within SHS as well as other units in the University. Interacts and works collaboratively with other members of Pacifics community. Attends meetings as assigned acting as a staff representative in the allstaff School meetings and University trainings relevant to job duties as well as serves as support staff for assigned committees. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree Three 3 years of fulltime experience in higher education in a healthrelated field. Five 5 years of increasingly complex experience supporting leaders/executives.

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership and supervisory experience. Capacity to exercise diplomacy and deal effectively with people in a variety of circumstances in a calm kind and concise way. Ability to work independently and in a teamoriented collaborative environment. Ability to take initiative and independently plan organize coordinate and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse requests are involved. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality compliance with FERPA and student policies and procedures. Intermediate to advanced skills in the MS Office suite experience using databases and the ability to adapt to new technology. Positive attitude proven ability to work successfully with diverse stakeholder populations and demonstrated commitment to promoting an inclusive workplace. Negotiating/consultative skills in working with internal and external constituents. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
Work Schedule
Work is typically performed during standard business hours. May require occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
