To be eligible youth must:

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment

Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

for 30 hours per week from June to September on Tuesdays 95 Wednesdays 128 Thursdays 128 and Fridays 95 each week for the 9 weeks

Logistics Operations:

Job Description:

The position of Logistics Operations with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience as well as supporting the community members directly. The student hired will be responsible for the smooth operation of the warehouse and good communication with donors and supporters.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Assist warehouse coordinator with monitoring and tracking food inventory

Establish and maintain communication with donors

Create and maintain a courtesy plan/stewardship

Maintain a safe warehouse operation in accordance with policies and procedures

Provide certificates of acknowledgment to supporters Responsible to arrange and complete deliveries between sites pick up donations and drop off supplies.

Manage relationships with Farmers Market and Farmer owners for donations and collaborations.

Manage the client shifts by ensuring that operations are running smoothly

Responsible for quality assurance of the food distributed to clients and that client needs are met

Use the volunteer database and software shared among food banks in the Peel Region to monitor volunteer hours and clients profiles

Handle all donations and issue donation receipts on site

Ensure health and safety procedures are upheld by clients and volunteers

Client Shift Supervisor

Job Description:

The position of Client Shift Supervisor with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience as well as supporting the community members directly. The student hired will be responsible for the smooth operation of the administrating part of intake and its humane approach while being a professional in charge of the front office operations.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Manage the client shifts by ensuring that operations are running smoothly

Responsible for quality assurance of the food distributed to clients and that client needs are met

Engage train and assign volunteers to their daily duties

Use the volunteer database and software shared among food banks in the Peel Region to monitor volunteer hours and clients profiles

Handle all donations and issue donation receipts on site

Ensure health and safety procedures are upheld by clients and volunteers

Senior Well Being Coordinator:

Job Description:

The position of Seniors Wellbeing Coordinator with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience as well as supporting seniors that are facing poverty in our community. The SWC will be responsible to provide assistance to seniors based on specific health moral support and promotion of an active life with programs offered by SFB and other organizations in our community. Gatherings and activities will be a part of the program that will aim to seniors wellbeing in addition to one one consultation during their visit to the food bank.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Identify needs that affect isolated and vulnerable seniors that may impair their ability to live at home safely independently and in good health

Facilitate workshops to problem solve and identify solutions to help them meet their needs

Organize events that promote an active lifestyle and inclusiveness among seniors in the community

Youth Services Coordinator:

Job Description:

The position of Youth Services Coordinator with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience as well as supporting youth within the community that are clients and /or volunteers. We are very proud to be an organization that has never turned away any volunteers based on abilities or reasons for volunteering. We welcome youth that are aiming to acquire skills and experience as well those who are looking for a second chance. Our diverse pool of volunteers create a very interesting work dynamic that results in unique bonds. Youth have the chance to work on their leadership skills public speaking and become aware of the issues alongside the services available for their age. The YSC will be involved all aspects of this priority.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Assist with facilitating personal growth and leadership development in youth at risk newcomers and Syrian refugee youth to transition smoothly

Create connections with the database of all Youth Service providers in Peel directed towards programs for newcomers

Enrich and support the strategic plan to engage youth and develop programs for youth to participate in

HR Operations Coordinator:

Job Description:

The position of HR Operations with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience. Responsibilities and tasks are created based on a professional level within business guidelines. Communication reporting creating and supporting presentations working according to timelines individually as well as within team are a few of the tasks that will provide meaningful and career related skills.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Manage profiles and Schedule volunteers on database

Monitor volunteer hours and prepare certification

Plan and oversee the volunteer recognition events

Conduct volunteer interviews evaluate their skills and assign them to volunteer roles accordingly

Newcomer Settlement Coordinator

Job Description:

The position of Newcomer Settlement Coordinator with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience as well as supporting the community members directly that are newcomers/Syrian refugees and are in need of support and navigation. Its main focus is to ensure that everyone is treated accordingly and their needs are met when visiting the facilities to receive food. The student hired will be responsible for providing help through employment information via seminars or one on one meetings connecting clients with community assistance and providing info on settlement promoting a positive and welcoming environment.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Implement life skill workshops for newcomers and Syrian refugees

Conduct needs assessments while also recognizing their relevant skills and strengths

Provide access to community resources that are tailored to meet their wants/needs

Ensure that clients are served in a culturally sensitive manner

Community Development

Job Description:

The position of Outreach Coordinator with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience. The student that will be responsible for outreach will attend seminar sessions on communication networking and will adopt a proactive approach. S/he will create surveys and draw conclusions while providing a strategic plan tailored for Seva Food Bank.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Identify relevant community events and coordinate participation in these events

Participate in the intake process for new clients and provide service navigation

Assist the Program Coordinator with overseeing and developing programs organizing events and targeted training

Our top priority is the health and safety of all those who help provide food and those who receive it. We proactively follow the lead of Public Health authorities and the Region of Peel.

Regularly disinfecting hightraffic and frequently touched surfaces (door handles table tops shopping carts light switches).

Regular hand washing and sanitizing. There is visible signage throughout our food banks to remind all of preventative hygiene best practices.

Wear protective face coverings as highly recommended . PPE is available to all employees.
