THE STARTING SALARY FOR A NEW HIRE TO THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO $43738 $70000. Salary offers for the selected candidate are based on the candidates education and experience related to the position as well as our agency budget and equity.
This position serves as an Accounts Payable Lead Worker for the State Crime Laboratory. This position will work closely with the Forensic Scientist Managers over the Administrative Operations Section on financial program monitoring of Crime Laboratory grants and general cost center funds. This position will have oversight of the daytoday flow of work for AP staff in the Crime Laboratory and will train and coach AP staff as needed.
Some travel including some overnight stays are required.
Selected candidate will undergo a background and records check.

Division Information:
The primary purpose of the State Crime Laboratory is to accept find preserve and provide scientific forensic analysis of evidence for the criminal justice community. The forensic services provided include inlab analyses technical field assistance and expert witness testimony in the following areas: Digital Evidence Drug Chemistry Firearm & Tool Mark Forensic Biology DNA Database Latent Evidence Toxicology and Trace Evidence.
The Administrative Operations Section is located in Raleigh at Laboratory Headquarters on Tryon Road. The Administrative Section is responsible for business and logistical operations to include facility management activities security for the laboratory system purchasing shipping and receiving equipment inventory and property control fleet management mail and freight services expendables warehouse credit card management telephone systems and janitorial services.

Documented experience auditing accounts payable transactions.
Documented experience reconciling grant transactions.
Ability to verify and ensure accuracy and validity of moderately complex transactions.
Ability to examine accounting records to assure adherence to accounting standards and regulations. (Examples: variety of funding sources with different reporting cycles and standards; reinvestment of funds and accountability for the more complex funding sources.
Ability to maintain and manage accounting records of moderate variety and complexity including preparation of financial statements and reports. (Examples: research compile and analyze information; prepare statistics; write/draft reports; make recommendations for resolution.
Ability to explain and interpret financial information.
Ability to resolve problems of moderate complexity.
Ability to make suggestions for and/or implement process improvements in the work unit.
