Job Description
Summary:
The Welder will weld cut and braze metal pieces and products by using flamecutting and hand welding equipment. The welder will be required to complete small/simple fabrications and large complex fabrications to specifications. The Welder is required to comply with all MPI policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and comprehend product blueprints and layouts to accurately fit structural parts together in shop in preparation to welding
- Understand American Welding Society standard symbols
- Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job
- Lay out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with a cutting torch
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting burning and welding techniques and equipment.
- Monitors the welding burning and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping distortion expansion or shrinkage
- Prepares assembles and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded
- Weld metal structural components together in the fabrication of stainless steel aluminum and other structures
- Perform first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by RMF standards
- Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings
- Utilize safety devices and wear all mandatory personal protective safety equipment
- Operates power tools
- Operate forklift if needed once certified
- Change gas tanks as needed
- Perform simple maintenance repairs as
- Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered
- All other duties assigned
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
1 year of relevant experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Time Management
- Problem Solving Skills
- Good understanding of basic mathematics Ability to:
- Read blueprints
- Read measuring devices (Tape Measures
- Work alone with little to no direction
- Read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Use proper personal protective equipment
Strength Level: 2540 pounds
