Job Description

The Opportunity

We have an exceptional opportunity for a Lawyer or an Associate to join our Sydney team on a permanent fulltime basis. You will be part of a great team and will be responsible for overseeing a range of interesting coverage and defendant professional indemnity and public liability insurance files with reputable clients. In this role you will receive ongoing mentoring and development from a Senior Principal and a Consultant as well as support from the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing a diverse range of defendant insurance matters public liability claims and professional indemnity claims (including some medical negligence).
  • Conducting research and drafting pleadings submissions motions and briefs.
  • Negotiating settlements attending conferences mediations court and managing court processes.
  • Advising and communicating directly with clients.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior lawyers and support staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 23 years postqualification experience gained predominantly in the area of Insurance Litigation
  • Experience in professional indemnity and/or public liability and/ or coverage work.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with clients and other practitioners.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A keen eye for detail and excellent timemanagement skills.
