Northern Tier High Adventure Base Atikokan ON and Ely MN is looking to hire Seasonal Summer Camp Counselors for canoe trips. ABOUT NORTHERN TIER HIGH ADVENTURE BASE / BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
Were a national high adventure base for the Boy Scouts of America we specialize in wilderness canoe treks in the Boundary Waters (Minnesota) and Canada as well as winter camping treks. In the summer Scouts from Northern Tiers three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes meandering rivers dense forests and wetlands in Northern Minnesota Northwest Ontario and Northeast Manitoba. Our guiding values are the scout oath and law as well as providing lifechanging experiences tailored specifically for scout units.
We employ hundreds of staff every year. Staff members come from all over the world and bring with them unique skills and talents. Our diverse and qualified staff work as a team and annually deliver the wilderness experience of a lifetime to thousands of youth and adults.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR
As a Summer Camp Counselor for canoe trips you are the foundation of our program. You work directly with the scouts to ensure that they have the best and safest experience possible. Your days working with scouts aged 14 18 are filled with adventure. You camp canoe teach outdoor skills and act as a role model as you lead 12 weeklong wilderness canoe treks. When you are not on trail working with scouts work days are spent supporting base camp operations through a variety of custodial chores or administrative tasks. This is one summer that you will never forget and a job that will be the wilderness adventure of a lifetime!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR
- Age 18 or older
- Available for the summer from late May August
- Passion for outdoor adventure and mentoring youth
Can you think critically and function independently with minimal supervision Are you attentive to safety and take commonsense precautions Do you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Can you work effectively with both youth and adults Do you enjoy coaching others Are you patient and able to remain calm under pressure If so you might just be perfect for this outdoor adventure guide job! SEASONAL WORK SCHEDULE
