Job Summary
Working under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator and inQualifications
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Under general supervision of the PI and other senior laboratory members performs standard experiments routinely used in the laboratory using established laboratory methods and protocols with appropriate controls. Routine experiments may include reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reactions (RTPCR) Western blotting cell culture and passage of cells cell isolation staining.
2. Prepares and maintains tissue cultures as well as expansion and storage of cell lines.
3. Assists with animal model experiments and mouse line expansion characterization.
4. Maintains careful records of all experiments and data summarizes and analyzes results including use of basic statistics.
5. Prepares laboratory reagents chemicals instruments and equipment. Helps senior laboratory technician in executing these tasks.
6. Maintains supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures and in conjunction with other laboratory personnel.
7. Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor as well as postdoctoral fellows actively participating in laboratory meetings presenting and discussing data.
8. Helps perform literature searches and consideration of findings.
9. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or BS with at least basic course work in biological/physical science required; major in biologic sciences preferred. Prior experience in basic science project work also preferred.
