Job Description
Gilead Sciences is a researchbased biopharmaceutical company that discovers develops and commercialises innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. Gileads therapeutic areas of focus include liver diseases infectious diseases inflammatory diseases and cancer.
In the context of new pipeline opportunities in oncology as well as a portfolio of hospital antiinfective products we are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional with experience across multiple brands and areas in the prelaunch and postlaunch settings.
About the role:
The Senior Medical Manager will focus on developing and executing the medical strategy for oncology and our hospital AI portfolio in Australia and will be a wellorganised and resultsoriented person. This role requires close collaboration with national and international colleagues from within Medical Affairs and the extended crossfunctional team. The role is predominantly officebased and will report into the Snr Dir Medical Affairs.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Develop and execute Medical Affairs activities and scientific projects based on the medical strategy and Plan of Action in close collaboration with other crossfunctional team members.
Develop effective working relationships as the medical expert with cross functional teams Develop and conduct medical education and communication activities in accordance with identified learning needs including digital facetoface and print
Provide strategic support for local Medical Affairs publication planning.
Provide medical leadership to plan and execute Medical Affairs Advisory Programs and provide support as needed to crossfunctional HCP advisory boards.
Present scientific and clinical data in a variety of different settings to support the safe and effective use of Gilead products
Lead the medical and scientific review of local promotional materials.
Work collaboratively and crossfunctionally with Gilead personnel in European affiliates Global Medical Affairs Clinical Research Marketing Market Access Sales Regulatory Affairs Drug Safety Public and Government Affairs.
Partner with the clinical operations team to provide scientific support to trial sites and ensure sharing of insights
Serve as internal scientific expert in the therapy area healthcare landscape and data on Gilead and competitor medicines
Represent Gilead with the external multidisciplinary scientific and HCP community through scientific engagement group presentations advisory boards conferences and other activities as
Develop abovecountry networks to ensure sharing of key insights ideas and resources
Identification of actionable insights from external stakeholders including advisory boards and market research to ensure prelaunch and launch plans addresses the unmet need
Knowledge and Skills
Advanced scientific or clinical degree
Minimum 5 years experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry preferred
Deep understanding and experience navigating complex oncology ecosystems
Functional experience in the prelaunch and postlaunch setting experience or strong knowledge in oncology strongly preferred
Demonstrated deep understanding of patient journeys
Established relationships with oncology networks desired
Evidence of strong medical affairs acumen ;
Understand future trends and shape ecosystems to enable introduction of new treatment paradigms
Leadership in matrix and cross functional team structures with agility transparency and innovation
Thrives in an agile setting with dynamic release and fast uptake of new data
Demonstrated ability to lead change through thinking strategically to drive innovation
Demonstrated relational intelligence by generating value through impactful interactions
Demonstrated leadership of developing and delivering on cross functional prelaunch and launch plans including; strategic project management through leading valuable and impactful projects aligned to the needs of the patients and other stakeholders they serve by engaging internal and external stakeholders and resources
Excellent written verbal relationshipbuilding influencing and negotiation skills with varied audiences and executives
Strong analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas
Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and networks at senior levels internal and external to the company
Aptitude to understand and lead through complex issues identify key insights and communicate salient points to varying audiences
Demonstrated leadership and prioritisation capability
Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and independence
Adherence to all regulatory legal and business conduct requirements
Ability to travel to domestic and international conferences which will include occasional weekend travel
