Reporting directly to the Transportation Supervisor the driver/operator is responsible for loading transporting and offloading TDG regulated and nonregulated industrial liquid waste while assuring all regulations policies and procedures are followed. Key Accountabilities:
- Active participant in GFL Environmental Health & Safety Program.
- Attend all safety meetings.
- Report all incidents accidents and or near misses equipment damage as soon as they happen.
- Wear required PPE for the task and ensure that it is maintained in good condition.
- Comply with Corporate and Regulatory policies and procedures.
- Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation carriage of goods drivers hours of service occupational health and safety transportation of dangerous goods customs and immigration and weights and dimensions.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Report vehicle defects accidents traffic violations or damage to the vehicles.
- Check all loadrelated documentation to ensure that it is clear concise complete and accurate in a timely manner.
- Perform periodic inspections to ensure that the load is properly secure.
- Clean or capture any debris caused by the loading/unloading process.
- Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer problems mechanical problems or delivery problems.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skilled and Key Competencies:
- Certification from recognized Truck Driving School.
- Valid AZ license.
- Ability to operate manual transmissions.
- Familiar with environmental regulations (CEPA Ontario Reg. 347/558 TDG etc. is an asset.
- Experience hauling liquid hazardous and nonhazardous waste
- Detailed oriented and experienced completing electronic or paper documentation not limited to Daily Driver Logs Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) Residue Last Contained Forms Waste Manifests work orders Permits Job Hazard Safety Assessments Daily Field Tickets and Daily Time Sheets.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly shifting priorities and to work with minimal supervision in a fastpaced work environment.
- The capacity to provide receive and fulfil clear concise direction to assure respectful communication.
- Proven communication (written / verbal).
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
- Vac Truck experience is an asset.
