UofL Health Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is a 298bed fullservice hospital which has served generations of patients in south Louisville. Originally founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1874 the hospital offers a full range of vascular orthopedic cardiac neurological surgical rehabilitative and 24/7 emergency services including 24/7 STEMI service. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is home to UofL Health Weight Loss Care the regions only weightloss management program utilizing the LapBand System. In addition the hospital provides the Orbera gastric balloon procedure. The hospital has been recognized as one of the first health care facilities in the nation to receive a Blue Distinction Center for bariatric surgery. The hospital partnered with sister facility UofL Health Peace Hospital to open a voluntary inpatient medical detox unit at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital to care for patients with substance use disorders. Most recently Cancer & Blood Specialists located adjacent to the Mary & Elizabeth Hospital campus became the third location of UofL Health Brown Cancer Center. At the center patients will have continuity of care with trusted oncology and hematology providers along with access to the multidisciplinary care pioneering research and clinical trials of the Brown Cancer Center. In addition to the hospital Mary & Elizabeth has three medical plazas on its campus to provide office space for a wide array of primary care and specialty physicians.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (HospitalBased) is a competent registered nurse that will deliver nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and nursing practice standards. The Registered Nurse (HospitalBased) uses:

• Nursing Practice Competencies to intervene to achieve safe optimal patient and family centered care health outcomes;
• Leadership Competencies to coordinate patient care and communicate with the care team;
• Professional Profile Competencies to develop professionally as a lifelong learner and
• Practice Outcomes Competencies to evaluate care based on evidence the UofL Health quality model and patient safety goals.

The Registered Nurse (HospitalBased) demonstrates competency caring for complex patients and participates on the care team to improve the quality of care in the clinical area.

Area of focus:

• Labor & Delivery
• Postpartum Care
• Newborn Care

Required Qualifications:

• 1 years of labor & delivery experience.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (AND) from an accredited nursing program.
• All newhire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are encouraged to start an approved BSN program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) accredited by the American Association of Pediatrics (AAP)
• Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
