Description of Job

TheDivision of Motor Vehicles (DMV)provides services used by nearly every citizen of the State. Colorado citizens utilize identification driver and vehicle services at State and County offices to obtain identification cards driver licenses vehicle registrations titles and other related services. Additionally the DMV licenses and provides oversight of private businesses and government organizations that provide driver and emission testing services. Finally the division works closely with other state agencies and programs to provide information and education to serve the public and encourage voluntary compliance.


Driver License Office Manager Duties:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the rural Driver License Office (DLO) ensuring compliance and proper reporting to leadership.

  • Develops Performance Plan Year evaluations; as well as quarterly; mid year; and final employee performance evaluations.

  • Discusses employee performance matters and prepare documentation;

  • Provide coaching and conflict resolution for staff issues;

  • Handles and resolves escalated customer complaints;

  • Processes complicated or more difficult applications;

  • Operates as the floor lead relieving employees for breaks; monitors work flow; monitors employee schedules etc.;

  • Accounting duties such as: daily deposit reconciling employee cash/credit card receipts; verification of funds; employee cashiering;

  • Performs all functions of line staff including issuing documents when business dictates.

  • May stand for long periods of time.

  • May be required to travel to another DLO to assist with daily operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Five 5 years of relevant experience in a publicfacing customer service supervisor or managerial environment to include performance management or regulatory environment role


OR


Education and Experience:

A combination of related educationin Management Business Administration Public Administration Human Resources or a similar fieldand/or relevant experiencein a publicfacing customer service supervisor or managerial environment to include performance management or regulatory environment roleequal to five 5 years


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional years of direct supervisory experience leading a workforce interacting with the general public
  • Additional years of department management experience establishing performance goals and evaluating workforce performance
  • Additional years experience in a regulatory environment or technical customer service workplace serving the general public
  • Intermediate to advanced computer and data entry skills
  • Driver License Fundamentals (DLF) Certified

Driver License Systems Fundamentals Certification (DLF Certification) Requirement:

Newly hired Driver License Technician IVs will receive Driver License Fundamentals (DLF) training and regular DLF skills evaluations. Before completing one year in this position the Technician IV will complete the DLF Certification assessment; a written and practical examination. Employees are required to achieve a combined average of 90 between the practical and written portions of the assessment to receive the minimum passing grade and earn DLF Certification.


Failure to achieve DLF Certification during the first year in position may result in removal from position and possible termination of employment.


DOR Required Skills and Competencies:Competencies required for all DOR positions include good communications skills interpersonal and people management skills the ability to multitask the ability to work with confidential information the ability to work in highstress environments and the demonstrated ability to assist customers.

Conditions of Employment with theCDOR:

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty integrity and public confidence.

As a condition of employment with theCDOR all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations therefore all employees must undergo a preemployment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
