Position Summary
This position is a summer job with 11 weeks of guaranteed work and a possibility for extension. The successful candidates will support Kamloops Sexual Counselling Centres education and prevention work through attending community events as well as developing and delivering a range of passive (eg pamphlets posters) and active (workshops events) educational resources. Topics may include supporting survivors consent healthy relationships bystander intervention resisting culture technologyfacilitated violence etc. and will be driven by an Intersectional lens. The work will require a balance of independent work and collaboration with internal and external partners.
Job Duties
Community Education
- Developing engaging activities and attending local events to spread awareness and share information.
- Developing training materials on emerging issues related to gendered violence
- Developing workshops for a variety of audiences
- Developing engaging written material (pamphlets posters etc) to educate various audiences
- Providing training to schools community groups and more on gendered violence
- Updating internal resources with up to date referral information
Community Building
- Consult and liaise with community service agencies to develop community relationships and maintain uptodate information on available resources
- Participate in making KSACCs internal culture and services more affirming and inclusive for all marginalized genders
Other
- Participates in internal committees
- Provides backup coverage of Front Desk and crisis line as needed
- Other duties as required
Requirements/Skills/Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in human services and/or equivalent or equivalent work/life experience.
- KSACC values the learning of lived experience comparable to formal education
- Knowledge and understanding of intersectional feminist practices and ideologies
- Knowledge and understanding of gendered violence
- Knowledge and experience with public engagement
- Experience creating and hosting presentations
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience managing multiple tasks at once remaining organized and staying calm under pressure
- Experience working independently as well as part of a team
- A comprehensive understanding of confidentiality
- Familiarity and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the ed and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls Calls for Justice

This position is funded by the Government of Canadas Summer Jobs program. As such to apply for this job you must:
