Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality & Procurement ManagerPowertrain to drive supplier sourcing procurement and quality assurance processes with a strong emphasis on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supplier management cost optimization and quality control within automotive aerospace electronics or industrial manufacturing industries. This is a resultsdriven contractor role requiring expertise in supplier negotiations defect resolution and quality process implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Supplier Management:
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify evaluate and onboard suppliers that align with cost quality and delivery requirements.
- Cost Optimization: Drive costreduction initiatives through negotiations supplier consolidation and contract optimization.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers to enhance performance and reliability.
- Contract Negotiation: Secure favorable pricing and contract terms while mitigating supply chain risks.
- Market Intelligence: Track industry trends and supplier landscapes to identify sourcing opportunities and risks.
Supplier Quality & Compliance (APQP & PPAP):
- APQP Implementation: Work with suppliers to implement Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for new and existing products.
- PPAP Management: Oversee Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions ensuring all required documentation (FMEA Control Plans Process Flow Diagrams Capability Studies etc. is provided and approved before production.
- Supplier Audits: Conduct remote/inperson supplier audits to verify adherence to ISO 9001 IATF 16949 and other quality standards.
- Defect Management: Lead 8D problemsolving root cause analysis and corrective action plans (CAPA) for supplierrelated defects.
- Supplier Performance Metrics: Implement KPIs & scorecards to monitor supplier performance drive improvements and ensure compliance.
Operational Efficiency & Risk Mitigation:
- Procurement Analytics: Utilize datadriven approaches to optimize supplier selection and reduce costs.
- Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to align procurement with production schedules.
- Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans.
- Reporting: Provide weekly/monthly updates on supplier performance cost savings and quality metrics.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in procurement supplier quality or supply chain management.
- Strong expertise in APQP PPAP FMEA Control Plans and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Proven experience in supplier audits corrective action processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deep understanding of ISO 9001 IATF 16949 and AIAG quality standards.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems procurement tools and quality management software.
- Excellent ERP communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while meeting strict deadlines and performance targets.
- Strong preference for candidates with previous experience in the automotive industry.
Work Expectations & Deliverables:
- Available during CST/PST working hours with flexibility for global supplier calls.
- Ensure 100 compliance with APQP & PPAP requirements for all sourced parts.
- Meet performance KPIs including cost reduction targets supplier defect rates and sourcing efficiency improvements.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports on procurement and supplier quality performance.
- Drive continuous supplier quality improvements and mitigate supply chain risks proactively.
