Job Description
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Annapolis Junction MD USA Arlington VA USA
Were seeking an exceptional technical leader to drive the evolution of AWSs threat response capabilities through the application of machine learning large reasoning models largescale data analytics and security engineering. In this role youll deliver advancements that protect AWS infrastructure and our customers at global scale.
Key job responsibilities
Design and operationalize nextgeneration threat detection systems that process petascale security datasets while maintaining high precision/recall
Lead automated threat hunting and detection engineering initiatives
Transform threat intelligence into actionable detection logic and machine learning models
Drive innovation in security data science developing novel approaches to identify sophisticated threats
Mentor and provide technical leadership scaling your impact through other engineers and scientists
Partner with AWS service teams to implement detection capabilities across AWSs infrastructure

Extensive experience in security engineering data science or software development
Proven track record building and operating petabytescale distributed systems
Expertise in multiple programming languages (e.g. Python Rust Java)
Experience applying ML/AI to realworld security problems
Strong background in threat detection security response or threat intelligence
Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or related field
Experience developing and improving securityfocused ML techniques (anomaly detection graph analytics reasoning models)
Track record of publications or patents in security or machine learning
Deep knowledge of cloud security and AWS services
Track record of breaking down complex security challenges into simple scalable solutions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $179000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
