Position Description for Moffat Consolidated School District #2 Moffat Colorado
The Moffat School District Board of Education is seeking a highly qualified and experienced leader to serve as the next Superintendent of Schools. The Board wishes to have the selected individual assume the responsibilities of the position July 1 2025.
Enrollment: 200 PK12
The District: The Moffat School District is comprised of the Moffat School a traditional K12 school serving 100 students in Moffat Colorado and Crestone Charter School a districtauthorized charter school serving 100 students in the neighboring community of Crestone Colorado.
Location: Northern Saguache County of the San Luis Valley along the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range 140 Southwest of Pueblo and 45 miles south of Salida Colorado
The Qualifications
In order to be considered for the position candidates must have the background skills and abilities essential for the superintendency. The Board of Education is seeking a candidate who has:
- A friendly social demeanor and a desire to embrace the San Luis Valley lifestyle and to be an integral part of the community.
- Successfully demonstrated strong organizational leadership and team leadership preferably as a rural superintendent.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining both student enrollment and highly qualified teachers in a rural area.
- Experience with grant writing and implementation as well as CTE and enrichment opportunities for students.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships among constituencies.
- Experience in effectively maintaining positive and respectful relationships with charter schools.
- Demonstrated a commitment to effective mental health and wellness initiatives for students and staff.
- Construction and capital project management experience.
- The ability to engage the district in wraparound community services recreational programs and housing partnerships.
- A strong understanding of Colorado Department of Education regulations and requirements.
Salary Range: $115000 $130000 plus housing assistance and full insurance benefits.
