Job Description

The University of Nevada Reno is recruiting for a Letter of Appointment in Marketing and Outreach.

The Marketing and Outreach staff member for Residential Life Housing & Food Services is responsible for planning development and implementation of all of the organizations marketing communications and outreach activities. This position coordinates departmental internal and external communication for an oncampus housing operation inclusive of these functional areas: Business Operations Facilities Residential Life and Selection and Development. In addition this position presents information about housing and dining at new student orientation sessions participates and presents at University recruitment events communicates and corresponds directly and indirectly with students and parents and participates in department faculty and staff training sessions.

Responsibilities

50 Department Marketing Efforts

  • Write update edit and oversee production and design of printed and virtual materials such as brochures handouts Powerpoint presentations digital display graphics videos etc.

  • Act as brand ambassador ensuring proper and consistent use of naming conventions brand attributes and logo

  • Coordinate the design and delivery of graphic information pieces for brochures posters presentations videos advertisements in inperson and digital environments

  • Coordinate and prepare photography and other media for hard copy and virtual publications while maintaining a digital media library

  • Work with staff and contractors to develop implement and maintain social networking strategies across multiple media ensuring content is updated accurate and timely

  • Monitor manage develop and update content for social medial; monitor be proactive and respond to inquiries in a timely manner

  • Manage website including: directly updating website content maintain integrity of website content and structure; ensure ADA accessibility and inclusivity monitor and report on key metrics from website analytics system and utilize Search Engine Optimization/Techniques

  • Manage and execute email/text message communications program including monthly enewsletters and campaigns related to on campus housing and meal plan usage

  • Oversee access and permissions; graphic creation uploading and removal; and overall coordination of digital monitor displays throughout departmentrun buildings

  • Coordinate departmental apparel for student graduate and professional staff and ensure that items meet University branding standards

  • From a marketing lens observe evaluate and provide feedback to the appropriate departmental staff on the quality of the following: housing and dining facilities and their furnishings and equipment; service provided by departmental staff dining and custodial services of the department; programs presented by the department; and/or materials distributed by the department

30 Outreach and Orientation Efforts

  • Serve as the lead department contact for the Office of Prospective Students New Student Initiatives and other outreach/recruitment University staff members to coordinate tours soliciting department assistance when needed

  • Coordinate department presence at University outreach recruitment and orientation events; serving as the primary presenter department attendee and point of contact and coordinating other staff presence when applicable.

  • Coordinate housing tours in conjunction with outreach recruitment and orientation events advising a student housing ambassador team who lead individual tours and ensuring ambassadors have accurate and updated information.

  • Manage promotional materials and publications to ensure outreach events have supplies/materials needed.

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating department presentations for outreach events and orientation sessions

10 Student Project Leadership

  • Delegate projects and tasks to marketing student staff ensuring that all delivered content meets university and department standard

  • Ensure that student staff projects are being completed and posted in a timely manner according to department marketing plan

  • Provide assistance and direction to student staff regarding areas of marketing and outreach

  • Organize regular check ins with student staff and establish goals associated with marketing and outreach timelines

10 Collaborative Department Leadership

  • Observe evaluate and provide feedback to the appropriate departmental staff on the quality of the following: housing and dining facilities and their furnishings and equipment; service provided by departmental staff dining and custodial services of the department; programs presented by the department

  • Represent department through attendance and participation on divisional and/or university committees/teams.

  • Assist with the coordination of the selection and training of student graduate and professional staff.

  • Assist with developing coordinating and implementing departmental initiative communication. Such initiatives include but are not limited to MoveIn MoveOut etc.

  • Provide advice counsel and advocacy for students/staff and appropriately refer (connect) them to campus resources.

  • Attend and participate in RLHFS trainings meetings and committees.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate has a Bachelors Degree and two 2 years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate has experience in student housing recruitment marketing outreach or comparable higher education experience

*This LOA position will be contracted for 69 months with a potential to extend the contract.

*This position may be expected to travel to outreach and recruitment events.
