What Youll Be Doing
Reporting to the Director People Culture & Brand (PC&B) Governance & Controls the role will provide leadership and highly specialized consultation on governance and controls activities within PC&B. The incumbent will act as the PC&B SarbanesOxley (SOX)/Maintenance Officer (SOMO) overseeing control identification documentation maintenance testing and monitoring on behalf of PC&B Accountable Officers (AO). This includes riskfocused reviews of internal control testing papers to ensure adequate documentation of design and operational effectiveness of Financial Process Controls (FPC/SOX) US Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) Operational Process Controls (OPC) and Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Controls. In addition you will work closely with internal business partners to review their process documentation and draft additional controls as needed.
You will act as the Relationship Manager for Ernst & Young (EY) assurance (SOX controls) and Information Technology General Controls (ITGC) audits and with US Internal Audit for the ICFR audits. You will provide leadership by managing the annual control test planning process reviewing control sample populations and artifacts addressing followup inquiries coordinating and communicating the remediation of any control gaps/failures and support control performers with IPE (Information Produced by the Entity) risk identification testing and documentation.
You will manage other PC&B governance activities such as leading sustainability testing to support the closure of deficiencies develop testing strategies for new controls and create summaries of control testing results to share with AOs.

How Youll Succeed
- Control Management & Testing Support the planning and implementation of the annual control test plans according to CIBCs Control Management Policy and applicable user guides in order to assess the design and operating effectiveness of PC&B controls. Document and update internal control descriptions control attributes/metadata and test questions. Create test questions and test plans for all new controls. Review control testing papers and provide feedback to control testers to ensure testing was thoroughly conducted and documented. Provide advice and guidance to PC&B Management regarding their control environment and consult with Risk Associates on the design of controls when required.
- Other PC&B Governance Support Provide advice and guidance to various PC&B business partners on governancerelated matters. Meet with control performers to share annual control test plan overview and highlight process changes/improvements and/or areas of focus. Provide feedback to control performers based on control testing results to improve business processes and control activities. Support and provide training as required to control performers where new requirements are introduced; e.g. IPE testing.
- Audit Management Act as relationship lead for all EY and US ICFR audits. Manage walkthrough scheduling meet artifact submission timelines and address auditor inquiries. Support PC&B internal audits as required by providing advice and guidance to business partners regarding their control environment.
- Reporting Prepare quarterly assertion updates for AO and initiate the AO certification process. Support preparation of Governance updates to the Senior Executive VicePresident PC&B and PC&B Executive Committee (ExCo).
