Senior Summer Undergraduate Internship in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology
Essential Functions
Senior Summer Undergraduate Intern:
- Incumbent will work semiindependently with faculty and graduate students using the Center for Genomic Sciences TransPanDomain Assay to provide surveillance for all cellular microbial domains (including bacteria fungi and parasites) for characterizing and comparing pathobiomes/microbiomes of: 1 Alzheimers disease specimens versus controls; and 2 agricultural crops treated and untreated with plasmawater. In addition incumbent will participate in RNA extractions of agricultural specimens for comparative RNAseq studies using shortread technologies (Illuminabased) and longread technologies (Pacific Biosciences) to ascertain how much splice pattern information is lost in shortread analyses. This position requires the successful applicant to have completed an academic year of laboratory research and to be skilled in the use of TransPanDomain Assay sterile technique micropipetting.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience.

This is a FullTime temporary position classified as offered pay is based on the successful candidates qualifications and experience departmentbudget and an internal equity review.
