The Opportunity:
The Amigos School seeks to hire a JK8 Bilingual Instructional Technology Specialist to join our diverse committed and passionate community. This individual will be responsible for direct teaching and working collaboratively with teachers and families to support a highquality educational technology experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
- Teach weekly technology classes for grades 16; ensuring that technology skills are systematically taught and integrated across all grade levels aligned with both the MA Digital Literacy & Computer Science Framework and the unique needs of a bilingual environment
- Collaborate with teachers and other instructional staff to develop curriculum that effectively integrates technology
- Collaborate with teachers to find and implement technology tools that support dual language learning strategies such as translation features bilingual content creation tools and platforms for multilingual collaboration.
- Participate in gradelevel activities and meetings schoolwide events and district department meetings and initiatives
- Evaluate select and model appropriate technology tools to support instruction in Spanish and English
- Design teach and support professional development opportunities for staff pertaining to the effective use of educational technology
- Collaborate with the Library Media Specialist to design integrated projects
- Follow a plan for professional development and actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally
Information Access & Delivery
- Educate students and staff on the districts Acceptable Use Policy and other related policies and procedures
- Explore evaluate and share emerging technologies with staff and students
- Work with the Technology Support Technician to create and maintain student teacher and staff accounts in a variety of online applications
- Support the implementation of online educational programs offered by the district
Program Administration
- Support the Technology Support Technician with on site troubleshooting for technical difficulties within the building
- Work with the ICTS department to develop implement and update the district Technology Plan and incorporates principles into school technology planning
- Attend regular school and department meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Instructional Technology Specialist you will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or higher in the field of Education with coursework or advanced degree work in the area of Technology Integration in Education.
- Three years of teaching experience or equivalent in the field of technology preferred.
- High levels or native language proficiency in English and Spanish including listening speaking reading grammar and writing are preferred.
- Familiarity with and appreciation of PK8 students and their needs issues and interests; previous and successful experience working in a multicultural urban environment that includes students from diverse ethnic cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Google Workspace for EducationChromebooks Mac OS and Windows operating systems; online applications such as ClassLink ST Math IM Classroom WeVideo Typing Club GoGuardian PearDeck; experience with projectors and interactive whiteboards document cameras and other related educational technology hardware.
- Experience in collaborative group work that focuses on technology integration and information literacy.
- Massachusetts Licensure in Instructional Technology or Digital Literacy & Computer Science required.
