Job Summary:
The Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for providing mental health guidance and support to teachers in the classroom and identifying and securing the needed support for children and families experiencing mental health challenges. The applicant brings expertise to the program through knowledge of ageappropriate behavior (birth to five years old) observations rapport building and knowledge of community resources.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Supports fidelity of implementation of Pyramid Model in all classrooms and centers.
Collaborates with the Education team to develop appropriate behavioral strategies to support children with challenging behaviors in the classroom.
Conducts case consultations regarding possible child MH or behavioral concerns with staff and families.
Conducts classroom and centerbased child observations to assess interpersonal interactions and determine if additional MH support/resources are needed to meet childs needs.
Discusses observations regarding a childs behavior with families and potential services that could
be beneficial to childs development in coordination with the programs Early Learning Inclusion Specialist and Mental Health Specialist.
Prepares observation and assessment reports and assists with referrals to appropriate resources including MH organizations in the community.
Works with families to support the needs of family and child to align educational strategies to the home environment.
Provides staff and families education regarding mental health and emotional wellness and supports them in needed mental health interventions including the use of home learning activities/PEER Cards.
Works with the Head Start program team to coordinate parent workshops to promote active mental health awareness and family engagement in meeting the behavioral health needs of children and families.
Participates in assigned meetings events and training as required.

Job Requirements:
Associate or bachelors degree preferred in the field of social work clinical psychology or related field.
Experience working with children and families in ethnically diverse lowincome communities required.
Must have CPR and First Aid Certification or required to obtain within the first year.
Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
Travel required locally or longdistance (as needed) for workrelated meetings and functions.
Must have a valid drivers license and/or reliable transportation.
