Position Overview:
The IKAN Regional Office of Education is seeking a compassionate skilled and experienced Lead Teacher to join our RAAC team a specialized program designed to support students with behavioral and emotional challenges. The Lead Teacher serves a dual role: providing highquality classroom instruction while mentoring and coaching staff in the implementation of socialemotional learning (SEL) behavior management and deescalation strategies. The Lead Teacher plays a critical role in fostering a consistent therapeutic and inclusive learning environment.
Performance Responsibilities:
Instructional Responsibilities:
- Deliver classroom instruction and implement coaching/mentoring strategies to meet the unique needs of students with behavioral challenges.
- Develop a curriculum and framework in collaboration with staff and administration for implementation of SEL and WorkBased Learning.
- Provide support and assistance to all classroom teachers in the skillful implementation of the SEL and WorkBased Learning Curriculums.
- Use traumainformed restorative practices to build strong studentteacher relationships and positive classroom culture.
- Conducts demonstration lessons to ensure all teachers have been trained to an advanced level of delivery and are using the instructional materials as designed.
- Provide opportunities for teachers to observe and discuss demonstration lessons in a classroom beyond their own.
- Collect and analyze academic and behavioral data to inform instruction and interventions.
- Ensure coordination of support and services with building administrators.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others demonstrate selfdiscipline and initiative and follow state federal and district guidelines.
Leadership and Coaching:
- Provide onthejob coaching and modeling of SEL and behavior management strategies to classroom teachers paraprofessionals and support staff.
- Facilitate regular daily/weekly debrief meetings to review student progress share strategies and support staff wellbeing.
- Train and guide staff in the use of deescalation techniques proactive interventions and crisis prevention strategies.
- Support the professional growth of staff by identifying areas for development and offering practical strengthsbased feedback.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal
Program Support and Improvement:
- Collaborate with administration to review and refine programwide policies practices and interventions.
- Participate in the development of behavior intervention systems and student support frameworks.
- Monitor fidelity of behavior support strategies across classrooms and offer constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the schoolwide climate through committee work crossfunctional collaboration and special initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field (Masters preferred).
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License; special education certification a plus.
- Minimum 35 years of teaching experience in an alternative therapeutic or behaviorfocused setting.
- Deep knowledge of positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) restorative practices SEL and traumainformed teaching.
- Experience mentoring coaching or leading adult learners.
- Strong communication problemsolving and teambuilding skills.
- Calm empathetic demeanor with a strong ability to lead under pressure.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification or formal training in CPI TCI or other crisis intervention programs.
- Experience designing and facilitating professional development.
- Familiarity with datadriven decisionmaking in behavioral programs.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range of $40000 to $65000 will be based on experience and credentials.
