The Counseling Center (CC) at James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications for an Intake/Crisis Clinician.

The Intake/Crisis Clinician is an 11month continuing position. This position provides intake and crisis assessment within a wellestablished walkin system to students experiencing emotional/psychological distress through both inperson contacts and phone interactions and subsequent referral to clinicallyindicated services. The position will also interface with the JMU community to provide consultation to students faculty staff and others who are concerned about the distressed unusual problematic or potentially harmful behavior of others. Further the position may provide training and supervision in support of the Counseling Centers robust training programs. Depending upon Center needs and/or clinician interest the position may provide brief counseling to a small case load of clients.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a masters degree in counseling and be licensed as a licensed professional counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
At least one year of experience providing crisis care/stabilization services within a college mental health setting.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience completing risk assessments and disposition planning to mitigate safety risks.
Interest and/or experience collaborating with other departments and multidisciplinary teams.
A selfmotivated selfdirected commitment to high professional ideals.
Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple complex clinical situations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
A collaborative spirit of warmth acceptance respect and trust towards colleagues.
The energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of the role while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships.
