Job Description

UM SMaP UK based in Rugeley Staffordshire are seeking a H&S contractor for an initial 6 month period whilst we recruit for a permanent H&S advisor.

The role will be provide full H&S support guidance planning and reporting for our two sites: Rugeley (WS15 1UZ) and Loudwater (HP10 9UT).

The role will report to the QHSE Manager however will lead on all H&S aspects. Working with all areas of the business and all levels.

The successful candidate will ensure that company H&S policies and procedures are fully implemented adhered to; ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and codes of practice including ISO standard 45001 as applicable; ensure RAMS are in place updated for all projects and reviewed at least annually; investigate and followup on all noncompliances accidents incidents and near misses using suitable problemsolving tools and techniques; compile weekly monthly and annual H&S reports.

This is demanding role that requires excellent time management organisational prioritisation skills with a pragmatic approach.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive positive change and mature the safety culture;

  • Collaborate with the QHSE Manager and Senior Leadership to embed health and safety strategies across the business;

  • Oversee H&S risk management regulatory compliance (ISO45001 and maintain strong relationships with external regulators;

  • Ensure the delivery of H&S improvements that support sustainable program delivery;

  • Support with companywide general learning and development activities including informative training materials delivering training and sourcing external training;

  • Ability and competence to conduct internal audits and legal compliance audits to a high standard.

Qualifications / skills required

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is essential;

  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH) would be desirable;

  • Proven H&S advisory experience in a large complex organization ideally with multisite manufacturing or engineering environments;

  • Comfortable in navigating fastpaced heavily regulated environments;

  • Excellent communicator at all levels of an organisation;

  • Strong stakeholder management experience implementing H&S management systems across diverse environments and a collaborative approach to influencing and engaging stakeholders effectively

  • Proactive and authentic health and safety professional;

  • Innovative adaptable problem solver and someone who enjoys a challenge;

  • Able to communicate with confidence and gravitas;

  • Able to engage gain buy in from others and build trusted partnerships;

  • Comfortable with working autonomously at times;

  • Approachable selfmotivated and keen to develop.

Please note: The successful candidate must be able to obtain relevant security vetting clearance required for the role.
