Job Description
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Moses Lake High School.
We are seeking an administrator who is visionary highenergy flexible and innovative. The assistant principal is part of a team of administrators responsible for the development and continuous improvement of a quality instructional program and to provide an emotionally and physically safe learning environment for the school community. The assistant principal shall report to the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Twelvemonth 260day work year inclusive of 12 paid holidays and 25 paid vacation days 15 responsibility days.
- Salary based on the Moses Lake Principal Association employment agreement.

- Other terms and conditions of employment as provided by board policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree in educational administration or related field.
- Valid Washington State secondary principals credential or ability to obtain.
- Successful teaching experience and administrative experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people in a leadership capacity.
- Evidence of experience and training needed to perform the functions described in the job description.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a commitment to and support of the core principles of the Moses Lake School District.
- Provide leadership vision and inspiration to staff and students; promote a belief system and values driven culture of equity and excellence setting high expectations for all students particularly those who have traditionally been vulnerable to failure.
- Articulate and model high expectations and the ability to motivate others to achieve high levels of performance.
- Partner with principal to focus on instruction and closing the achievement gap.
- Supervise and evaluate staff supervise events activities lunchroom and campus.
- Develop and administer discipline policies that reflect understanding of the impact of ACEs and the need for a restorative justice approach to discipline protocols. In accordance with that approach foster special programs ensure accurate state reporting and building staff development to grow capacity with challenging learners.
- Work collaboratively with staff students parents and other members of the community to help improve student learning using data judgment best practices and problem solving skills.
- Promote best practices in student learning and accelerating student achievement for diverse student populations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of technology as an essential learning tool in the classroom and overall instructional program.

- Strong multicultural and ethnic understanding; support equal and fair treatment and opportunity for all; foster a climate of inclusion promote culturally responsive instruction and leadership where diverse thoughts are freely shared and integrated.
- Prefer candidate fluent in English as well as Spanish.
- Successful experience using computer technologies to enhance classroom instruction and school management; possesses required functional and technical knowledge and skills to do his or her job at a high level of accomplishment; demonstrate active interest and ability to enhance and apply new functional skills.
- Uses analysis wisdom experience and logical methods to make quality decisions and to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; appropriately incorporates multiple inputs within our shareddecision making model to establish shared ownership and effective action.
- Is warm and easy to approach; builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact to diffuse tense situations.
- Represents the school and district in the community at large through partnerships and other public service activities; is effective in a variety of formal and informal presentation settings; commands attention and manages group process during the presentation; cognizant of audience response and able to adapt content and style accordingly.

- Our district utilizes the following systems as part of the job: Google Classroom and related tools Skyward systems eVal utilizing the Danielson Framework Homeroom (data warehouse) Aesop Blackboard Connect and Edline. Expertise in any of these systems will be considered an asset.
